My 2008 is completely stock except for a tonneau cover, JVC stereo and window shades. A guy recently complemented me on the truck, saying he seldom sees a stock Trunda. He asked if it was a work truck because they’re typically not modified. Told him no. I just had no interest in mods.

This got me thinking. Why do so many people follow the same trend—a body lift and oversized tires with black alloy wheels? Nothing wrong with it. It’s just that they all look the same. Here in northern Nevada is unusual to see a stock pickup.

Why do people jump on fad clothing, hair styles or online video challenges? People like what is cool, popular at the time so often follow the trend....says a guy that added chrome parts to his Tundra .

    Nice truck!

Welcome your stock Rig to the forum..It's a personal preference to leave stock and run with it/meh...or add different mods, lift, wheels, tires, LEDs, aftermarket bumpers, list goes on and mark your own fingerprints to your Rig....I dig that and exactly what I did to my 2gen Tundie...

Idk all, but much like your truck, mine had some body match, some black, and some chrome. So, it kinda looked like many others, thrown together from misc. parts. Not really a good look IMO, so off the cliff I jumped, and with some inspiration from the amazing forum members here, the results are mostly outstanding. Not for everyone though, and I respect your choices.

Trucks should have large tires and be high in the air. That is what i plan to do when i get my 2019, it's one reason why i don't like the 2022 model it looks more like a honda ridgeline.

I'm un-decided on the lift it just depends on how big i can go with 18" rims. I want some duratracs they are the best in snow and make a nice roar sound on dry pavement.

I think OP might have made a mistake on the body lift vs susp. lift.

Some of us make mods to make the truck perform better. I did that with a mid travel setup and larger tires. Yes wheels are black but they're bead grip methods and that just happened to be all I could find in stock in +25, and I love how they look. I also added a front bumper for splattering deer and protecting my truck, rock sliders and armor for protecting my truck, and a steel rear bumper that has a hidden hitch for departure angle. So not everyone does stuff just to look cool and ride to Starbucks, but those that do should do whatever they want. We're enthusiast's which is why there are rarely stock trucks here. But most of the country has stock tundras. There's around a dozen at my workplace, mine is the only non stock one. That's what's so cool about vehicles, like ar-15s and computers, you can mod as much as you want to make them yours.

Besides, I fully consider "fun to drive", as an adult, as perfectly reasonable criteria for my vehicles. If it ain't fun to drive, it won't be with me very long.

Too many folks face down in a phone watching what everyone else is doing and trying to emulate someone else’s life rather than live their own I guess. ‍♂️

    Different strokes for different folks!

Or, not everything is for everyone! I say that to one to myself whenever I see a 2WD pickup.

Most of the mods I have done, or plan to to, are strictly to increase functionality. I would like some black wheels though. I think the silver with black accents just looks good. But I'm not ready to spend on aesthetic mods just yet.

    Clean truck.

I have a complete lowering system if you want to break the trend of leveling and 33’s like everyone else.
My state has the worst roads in the country, only reason I can’t keep what I have.
