    Hello all,

Very happy to have such useful insights through forums like these! I recently bought a 2011 Rockwarrior 5.7 for $6.8k, and am currently $8k in due to ttl and minor maintenance.
However, she does have the notorious head gasket failure between cylinders 5 and 7.

My plan of attack is to disassemble the engine to verify if the block and head are in good shape, then reassemble if so. Or if not, locally I found a used motor with only 127k miles for $3.5k, which still puts me less than the value of the truck in good condition.

Just posting to introduce myself but also introduce the situation for any others to learn from or myself to learn from as well.
    Thanks for your time!

Welcome. Hope it works out for you. Wouldn't a new crate engine be cheaper than that used one?

    Good Morning
If I were in that position I would just rebuild the stock engine for power. Experiment a little and bore and stroke it ? Especially if it’s not your daily driver and more of a project

bulldog93 makes a good point and maybe you can find a better alternative.

just my humble opinion but if you can imagine it , it is possible. Let us know what you decide
    God bless

I suppose in all yes? New crate engines have an extended warranty that would be comforting to have for the long run, especially if I decide to resell it.
However the cost is about double just buying a used from a salvage yard with lower miles than what mine currently has.

Have you had or heard experiences of any successful rebuilds if this engine?

That's a good point. But you have to understand that I have little to no experience in engine teardown. Plus I've heard these aluminum blocks and heads can be very fragile. So I'd be scared to do anything aside from stock rebuild. Plus the tranny is still stock
