The Let's Go Camping Truck

I bought my Tundra Back in November of 16 ... it's a 2000 Tundra access cab 4 wheel drive. I purchased it from a guy off of Craigslist. The truck was owned by an over-the-road truck driver and the mileage was low. The frame had been replaced under the recall so I had the perfect foundation to make a capable truck to take me and my family camping when time allowed.

Many of the dash lights were burned out and hard to see. The stereo lacked navigation and Bluetooth so these items were immediately replaced

The windows were tinted to Indiana's legal specs with the bonus of the air conditioner not having to work as hard. A remote start alarm was added for cold Indiana mornings. I replaced the center console and passenger bucket for the 40 / 60 sized passenger bench.

The rusty bed was tossed and a new junkyard bed with Linex and undercoating was sprayed the matching blue.

The Yakima rail system was installed on the camper top. A mega Warrior rack sits on top now. Yakima crossbars with a X cargo basket adorn the top of my cab.

 

Gotta have racks... the stuff that doesn't need to be kept away from the rain can go topside and free up some real estate.. rackattack.com I've found has the better prices backed up with the best customer service.

Installed a yakima rail system topside on the camper she'll, 66in load bars and a megawarrior off of Craigslist.

Yessir. Bought it out of Wisconsin this February.

A couple of solar panels and I'll try my hand at boondocking

 

Replaced the bed with a boneyard pick.... threw out the front passenger bucket for the 40 60 passenger seat.

Had the bed under coated, rhinolined and color matched. Boys, get rid of the rust farm of a plastic bed liner. It ain't nothing but trouble.

New shoes up front.... get the rears next week since I grabbed the last 2.

 

Did you take pictures of the center console removal? How hard was that bench seat to find? I'd really like to look into doing that myself....or maybe swapping out cloth seats for leather

 

Brother... that center console was easy. No pics necessary. 4, maybe 6 bolts and then the seat.

Now the real surprise is the air bag sensor for the 60 seat. It's a different plug style so you'll have to make an adapter, remove the old sensor from the seat (not hard), or accept to run with no working air bag on that side

 

Hell yeah that's good to know! Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to keep any wiring harnesses I see coming off of the old seat.

 

I ended up tucking the 60s air bag sensor plug inside the seat and carefullu removing the sensor from my passenger side bucket. Be gemtle and patient and ypur efforts will be rewarded.

The sensor is a network of pressure sensors (6 or 7 maybe) and it's pretty resilient as long as you don't start yanking and pulling like a damn gorilla. Slow and steady cutting away at the foam. My big meat hook fit in there and installation is pretty simple. Place the unit in under the fabric between the foam and the material. Spread it out and you'll be fine.
