The console safe seems to be fairly strong

So, my 1794 was broken into this weekend in Asheville, NC while we were on vacation. The thieves hit 11 vehicles in the hotel parking lot, and 120 in the area. They were apparently looking for money, drugs and firearms the police said. There was glass all over the place, I'm still vacuuming it up. Tiny shards of glass in the cooled seat keep working their way back up and there's a ton in the bottom of the door and under the seat still.

They took a crowbar after smashing the window and going thru the rest of the cab and tried to break into the safe. And weren't able to get in. Funny part it, there's nothing in there at the moment. They did however, scratch the top of the wood covered flip for the cupholder and broke the side of the console plastic pieces.

Earliest I can get the window replaced, is 16-Jan. :( Any suggestions on how to keep the rain /wind out and still see out that window? I've got a heavy plastic that is not clear and duct tape at the moment to keep wind/rain out. But maybe there are better suggestions? Never had to deal with this before.

That's a real bummer man sorry to hear this happened. I'm surprised the whole safe wasn't popped out. Hopefully your comprehensive coverage will cover it.

For the temp window go to a hardware store and either get a roll of thick clear plastic sheeting like dropcloth (stronger) or they make more clear plastic sheeting for winterizing home windows (clearer but not as strong). Try attaching with masking tape first to protect the paint but if it don't hold you can use duct/gorilla tape. Add a secondary strip halfway across the first one for more bonding area to the truck. For the sides that wrap around the door opening you can fold it over and tape it to the backside of the sheeting.

Edit: A body/window shop should also be able to make a temp window with sheeting for you.
