So I can't say enough how much this makes me crazy. My best buddy of about 25 years died in 2011 when some 20 year old who was texting and driving crossed the center line, hit him on driver door and killed him. Mind you he had life saving brain surgery 366 days before his death and was cleared to drive on day 365. He had a seizure disorder due to a brain tumor and finally got fixedand seizure free. I spent 5 days with him in Boston in hospital after his surgery
He had a daughter who turned 2 , 3 months after he died, he was 30. It absolutely fucked me up, I mean bad. We were best men I. Each other's weddings, did everything together for as long as I could remember.
Well last night my other best friend of about 30 years was hit head on by a 20 year old texting and driving, he got flown via chopper to a trauma center and survived. Broken hip, pelvis, leg, knee, arm, ribs, feet and ruptured spleen, needs multiple surgeries and rehab after that. Driver and one passenger of car that hit him are dead. Dead over what sounds like a text, fuck that. He's got 3 kids/step kids ranging 2-16. It's just gotten out of hand.
Please please don't text and drive. I can't stress this enough. I beg you don't do It

    Too many to list
Sorry to hear that. I hope he recovers soon....

When I m driving my Tundra and sitting up high (thanks to the lift), I notice sooo many people texting and driving. It includes all ages, genders, races etc etc not just teenagers.

I used to do it too till last year I activated Auto message reply on my iPhone while driving. Now I enjoy driving, day dreaming and listening to my music then Respond to some stupid text....

It makes me crazy. I used to ride a motorcycle but gave it up 100% because of texting and driving. Everyone does it. Please drive safe everyone.

I quit before my buddy died. Had too many close calls. It only takes a second and someone is dead. That someone is someone ,a dad, mom, wife, husband, son, daughter, friend....be safe everyone

I saw one time that texting is something like 26 times more distracting than drinking and driving. We’ve had an ongoing campaign against texting and driving where I work - and I am glad for it. We’ll get fired for it.

Sorry to hear that, I couldn't imagine how that felt... having said that, it drives me crazy when I see it happening...I day dream about walking up to the window, grabbing the phone, and smashing it onto the pavement. No words exchanged, just short and to the point. Sorry Pudge, life is crazy sometimes.

Sorry to hear. Phone usage in vehicle, One of my most hated things on this Earth.

I wish Cell phone makers would disable phones in motion, or Auto makers could jam or disable phones when vehicles are moving or engine is on. Seems that some entity needs to champion this!

Our 16 yr son, new driver has been threatened in many ways about phone usage when driving. Has been putting phone in console, (have actually seen, checked up on him) very proud of him. I can only hope he continues.

Us too. Our trucks have cell control where it blocks your work phone from working...that said, if you get into an accident while using your personal phone, our company will hold you fiscally responsible for our property, and the property and damage done to the victim. Just not worth it.

Extremely bad news. I hate texting when I'm sitting down let alone while driving. I see this stupid shit everyday. A huge problem. Not sure what you can do other then send these fools that kill/maim someone to the same MADD Panel that DUI offenders have to do. MADD Panels are a wake up call big time. Not sure how you can provide counseling for texters' that hurt people. :(

I think all cities need officers doing constant road surveillance and ticketing anyone texting while driving. Should be illegal everywhere. All this fancy tech in new vehicles ... 10 inch screen .. fuck all that .
Toyota safety sense... makes drivers think they don't need to pay as much attention imo.
Sad to hear about your losses.

So sorry to hear. Shouldn’t happen, EVER!

I don’t do it and have setting on iPhone that stops all incoming texts while I’m driving for that reason.

Wishing your buddy a speedy recovery.

This bs drives me nuts. When I was dating my girlfriend, I one time pulled her phone out of her hand and threw it in the back seat. Couldnt believe it.

The punishments are not harsh enough, and until texting and driving is dealt with like a DUI or worse, it'll never get better. Sad so many good, innocent, people have to die because of such selfish people.
Where I live they have signs up "No handheld phone use while driving. $100 fine". $100 is nothing. Littering is $500. How does that make any sense?

Sorry for your loss @Sean . Unfortunately I see it everyday in my travel back home from work. A hour+ ride you see a lot. Cars not doing speed limit, swerving off the road, or into another lane. I will pull up beside them, don't care who it is and lay down on my horn holding my phone . Yes I get a ton of birds but I will continue to do it. Not worth it.
