Bought a 2018 white Limited Tundra the day before Thanksgiving 2023 because my Taco w/ 255k miles spun a journal. This pushed the purchase up a year ahead of schedule, but I’m perfectly fine with that. So may as well create a build thread to document all the things I do to this truck. Hope y’all enjoy.

Next I replaced the windshield wipers with Rain X wipers from Walmart. Oh and the dog cover thing fits good.

Sitting at discount tire now getting the tires balanced because it feels like driver front is out of balance. Having them rotate the best tread tires to the rear as well.

Just pulled the OE chrome steps off my truck. Getting ready to list them in the market place, likely too cost prohibitive to send them to TX.

I’m also tracking fuel efficiency for the next 2 tanks and when that’s done I’ll tune it with my brand of tune (Triple C Chop Shop Powerthirst Tune) and collect fuel efficiency data from that as well.

I appreciate the thought. I’m sure there’s plenty of local folks who would love to trade chrome for black. I don’t know why everyone hates chrome so much. I fukkin love it.

Tires balanced, no more 60mph vibration. I do feel a little something, but I think it’s brake related. I am planning to replace the brakes front and rear soon enough. Stopping power isn’t that great, and the front rotors are a bit grooved.

Here’s some fuel efficiency data. Now I’ll tune the truck and see what effect it has on efficiency.

Tuned my truck over the weekend. Went a little too saucy with the throttle response, so dialed it back last night, could use a touch more to be perfect. Once I get that dialed, I’ll start tracking fuel efficiency.

Finally got someone to trade me my black steps for their chrome steps. I dig it.

Replaced my front brakes this last Saturday. I can tell you right now that the person who previously did these brakes was a degenerate. Spring clips were broken, both passenger caliper bolts were loose, and one had trashed threads. Replaced one caliper bolt, and went to torque, it just kept spinning. Got new calipers for both sides from O’Reilly because the driver side piston boot was a little funky too. Brakes good now. I found the pad n rotor set on FB marketplace for $60, Raybestos R Line. I have the Raybestos element 3 on my wife’s 4Runner and they break like a mofo.

Forgot that I added Bilstein 5100 shocks front n rear. Set the fronts to the 2nd clip and now the truck sits almost totally level. Rear might be 1/8th” higher than front. The ride is much better, I assume that I was riding on the original factory shocks of 150k miles, so they were def toast.

Also since I’ve finally gotten the roof replaced on my house, and have the motor in my Tacoma now, I can start playing a little more with the mods on the Tundra.

Got on eBay and got the revosol steering wheel hydrodipped carbon fiber. Plus I picked up a fancy carbon fiber shift knob as well.
