That Tesla has instant 100% torque. Until batteries run out.

Was it just me or did the dude driving the Tesla have much better reaction time? Seems like he took off first on 3 of 4 races. By the 4th it was even and he still smoked the Jeep, but looks like he jumped early each time (or jeep driver was slow).

The Tesla is badass for sure, but I know which one I would take to Baja.

everything that I have owned with a rechargeable battery has let me down at some of the worst times possible!
I buy everything with real batteries or if rechargeable, it must have options for a real battery like flashlights, 2-way radio, GPS ...
only my cell phone is rechargeable and I keep an extra backup battery.

I may consider an electric car in 5-10 years ... till then I would prefer a real car even those little guys with a lawn mower engine :)

It's cool to see these cars up-close while getting assemble everyday but like you I preferred gas powered cars. If it doesn't have a muffler I don't want it. :) My sister and her husband own a Model S. They love it. They drive San Jose-Vegas and back on a regular bases. They planned their stops at charging stations along the way.

Crazy fast for what it is.... still so strange to see something launch / go so fast without the growl of an engine... the feel / thrill of the acceleration must be there, but I bet most people would say the Jeep is more fun to drive just on the sound alone... it would be an interesting survey...
