Temporarily Banned from Another Forum...

Tried to log into another forum I belong to. Guess I unknowingly offended with a political comment, so I’ve been temporarily banned til 6/13. Reason: Politics
Sorry, made me shake my head...

 

It isn’t always about being offended; it is sometimes just discussion of forum prohibited content, reason being it leads to more discussion that turns heated and goes south, so in order to pre-empt getting there bans are handed out to nip it.

 

Welcome! We also don’t engage in political conversation well over here energetic. Almost always goes badly, so warning bans are typical. But if you want to talk about trucks, there’s some good stuff here.

 

A lot of us come here to get away from politics, so thanks for helping to keep it that way

 

If it makes you feel better I got permanently banned from another forum. The reason? I questioned the quality and design of a vendor's products. When I did, one of the moderators who owned that product started complaining about me on a separate but associated forum. At that point members from the other forum started registering on the forums I complained to in order to attack me.

I wondered why so many new accounts were being created just to come and attack me, so I looked on the other forum where I knew the moderator was also active. When I found that the moderator had created a thread/post about me and literally directed people to come to the other forum and trash me, I created an account and proceeded to defend myself, which I admit was an unwise decision. I was blown away when I got banned from both forums, and the moderator was allowed to remain despite clearly instigating and escalating the situation.

I was active and I believe universally respected in the forum where I questioned the vendor's quality. I was really surprised at how things turned out. This is the first time I've talked about it since it happened probably over a year ago. I was really surprised that none of the other moderators reached out to understand the true chain of events, and even more surprised that the moderator who began the attack was allowed to remain on staff. There was literally no warning before the ban, and again, as far as I see it, had the conversation remained in the forum it was posted on and outside help wasn't called for, I don't think it would have escalated past that point. Looking at the other forum, the way the moderator was insulting me and my intelligence to others was, in my opinion, the first and only personal attacks that occurred in the exchange.

I guess the point of the story is that life is rarely fair, and even less so on the internet where there is limited accountability and people like to flex their egos. It may not have been fair that you were banned, but at least it was just a temp ban!

Don't complain about it on another forum.. if there is any association it might come back to bite you. At least members of this forum aren't registering on the other forum just so that they can talk crap to you!

 

So happy we have a place that is not filled with political opinions. If your looking for that I would check out Facebook it’s filled with that kind of nonsense

So many places for political discussion on the internet, so if that’s your topic choice, then go to those places specified for it. Quite simple.

 

I remember when a guy got banned from TS and everyone left to join him on TT. It was like a big exodus.

 

It was just amusing cause I haven’t signed in for over a week to that forum. It was in a general discussion forum and was probably a broad comment on a thread someone else started. Wasn’t trying to start anything here by posting this...love my Tundra brothers and sisters, and have really enjoyed this forum greatly.

 

I didn’t take your post as starting anything, just giving some insight into what may prompt certain actions being taken.

A big Texan cowboy stopped at a local restaurant following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, but the smell was wonderful..

He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?" The waiter replied, "Ah Senor, you have excellent taste! Those are bull's testicles from the bullfight this morning. A delicacy!"

The cowboy, undaunted, said, "What the heck, I'm on vacation, I'll have some!" The waiter replied, "I am so sorry Senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bullfight each morning. If you place your order now, we will be sure to save you this delicacy for tomorrow"

The cowboy placed the order and the next evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday"

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Senor ... sometimes the bull wins."

You're just not applying yourself ! I was banned for political lack of humor within 10 days of signing on . . .

 

I was summarily banned here for 1 month with no warning or comment and I still have no real idea why?

Probably because I started up here when all of the Rona shit hit the fan and everyone was cooped up solid for a few weeks already and there were a few threads going that must have been deemed to be too close to the edge.

Anyway there are deals and there are big deals and this was not either I guess in the end?

And I thought we were one big family here but my family can hardly wait to tell me how I have let them down or broken the rules!

Disappointing though at the time.

 

If you don't know why you were banned, stay tuned as you probably have not learned your lesson and will be banned again, just saying.

Indeed. And amazingly it's proof that we can all get along if we just leave the politics at the door.

It's one of the few times that i appreciate a taboo topic.

I complemented a fellow on his flag. Posted a pic of a similar flag. All post by me in that thread were deleted. Point taken. Lesson learned. Thanks mods for keeping me in check but not banning me!
