Tailgate unlocked with truck locked

I'm pretty sure the answer is no but...is there any way to leave my tailgate closed but unlocked and the truck locked? I have the electric lift/lower tailgate. There are many times when leaving my camper shell and tailgate unlocked so others can grab things but locking my cab works for me.

 

Good question. Have you tried letting the tailgate down, locking the truck, then closing the tailgate and opening it again?

 

At first I though to unplug the UP2 connector, but it provides a ground for the tail lights among other things.



You could install a bypass switch in the bed that interrupts one of the feed wires to the tail gate lock actuator when you don't want it engaged.
In the UP2 connector, it would be pin 4 black wire to the tailgate, or pin 5 green wire to the tailgate.

Yes, it locks after closing it.
