Hi I am new to this forum, here in Minnesota. Have a SR5, 2020. Bare bone truck which I hope will be equipped over time, with stuff "I really need" ...
Just finished my first upgrade , bought and installed a genuine Toyota tailgate power lock, followed every single step as described in the instructions found in this forum (thanks Roman from Franklin, TN). But not nothing happens when trying to operate the tailgate with the unlock or lock buttons in the car key.
I have revised the whole installation, checked fuses, and checked plugs al seems correctly installed. Any ideas or suggestions before I surrender to the dealer... thanks (doors continue to open and close well)

When you say everything is PLUGGED in, how are the connections made in the front floor kick panel?
If you used wire taps, make sure the wires you tapped into have a good connection.
The wires are very small and sometimes the connection isn't made using a wiretap.

The OEM is just plugs no wire taps needed.

I did this install myself , purchased the OEM wiring. Just unplug the wiring harness and check if any pins are bent or there is something obstructing the connections on both ends , and the click is felt .

Do the door locks work at the doors? Assuming they do check and see if your getting power to the actuator in the tail gate. Use a test light at the connector to the actuator and test for power when operating the locks. If nothing remove the passenger kick panel and check the lock and unlock wires at the connector.

Did it ever work? When did it stop working?

I don't have the OEM version but the Pop N' Lock is similar.

You can try and eliminate the lock actuator by testing it with a 12v Batt like in this video@44secs (you will have to disconnect it from the wiring **note the video is for the nonOEM PnL version so you will have to adapt it for the OEM version):

    https://youtu.be/gyBk01IWuE4?t=44

Its the same advice as 1lowlife's post just coming at it from the other side. If the actuator works you know its the wires or how you have it connected to the truck (which is what 1lowlife it pointing out).

To test the wires you would have to disconnect the molex connector from the truck and disconnect the wires running to the actuator. Only once they are disconnected you will short them together on either side and test them with a meter from the opposite end. You can also decide to test them in segments instead. The wire running back to front is in two segments:1) from the lock actuator to a connector underneath the bed and from the bed connector to the front kick panel. Testing these would be the same. Short the segment and test from the opposite end. Again make sure everything is disconnected before shorting anything.

If both check out, its the connector itself.

If anyone is looking for one, I've got a brand new in the box Toyota OEM tailgate power lock kit for Tundra 3rd gen's (part #PK3B6-34JL0). I ordered the wrong one (needed one for Tacoma) and can't return since I opened the packaging. $100 PM me.
