Can you swap a 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4 liter with a 2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 4.0 liter? I was given a 2005 Toyota Tundra that was involved in a wreck. The guy that gave me the car thought it had a 3.4 liter, but it has a 4.0.

Will the motor mount up smoothly? and would I need wiring harness and computer? and as far as California smog, would I need to take it to a smog referee for approval?

Anyone out there have some technical advice?

I have the complete 2005 Toyota Tundra

Are the trucks apples to apples? Both 4x4? Same cab?

Would it not be easier to take all the required parts off your truck to make the wrecked truck whole again?

well if you have both complete trucks, in theory you should have everything you need to do a complete swap. All mounts, wiring, ECUs etc will probably need to be moved over with the engine and transmission.

I like Obx’s idea of swapping your body onto the newer truck in the damaged areas
