Hey all, I am probably going to get the victory 4x4 dash mount plate for my 2025 Pro and I have some questions on this project. I got the idea from this youtube video about a minute in that a dealer posted and it looks super clean. I have no clue which adapter they installed.

Does anyone know the type of harness I can get to easily connect a new usb charger mount to the stock 12v cigarette lighter harness? I believe it's a 2 pin white female harness that looks like spade attachments can hook into.

Pic of cig lighter 12v harness in dash:

I would rather not splice into the stock harness in case I ever want to put the old 12v plug back in.

Are there any downsides to going with a better USB charger mount? I am planning on getting this particular unit which seems reliable. Powerwerx Panel Mount

    Thanks!

I know its not what your looking for but, just get a adapter that plugs into the 12v. Keeps the 12v if you ever need it without having to swap anything. They are low profile enough to to not add much bulk

Also, look at Bulletpoint Mounting for another plate. It leaves an opening at the front of the plate to make it easy to access that 12v. Looks like the Victory covers the entire area.

I was looking at the adapters and read about them not always being super reliable and overheating easily for long term usage. I could go this route I suppose if I can find a super reliable adapter. Going with the hardwire option will definitely look a bit more clean too.

I was looking at bulletpoint but like other mounts, it relies on the weak clips of the tray to stay put. If things get too heavy the tray will not hold well. Victory 4x4 actually bolts directly to the frame below the tray and looks way more stable.

    Appreciate the input!

    Ahh that makes sense.

Looked at the victory again and didnt see they "relocate" the 12v to middle of their bracket.

Good luck finding something that works out for you.

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
Should only be two wires going to it. Hot and ground. It is just a charger, not a usb data port. I replaced the cigarette port in the box that's in front of the radio on the dash. There were only two wires in the connector. I just cut the wires because I have no intention of changing it back to factory plug.

This is the route I went. I've been using this one for over a year now powering two magnetic charging pads, no issues.

Both of those chargers looks solid! I may just go with one of those and save myself the hassle of wiring the plate charger. It would have been a fun project to do but unnecessary I guess.

What sort of wireless chargers are you running? I am trying to find something that looks clean and can hide the cable for the most part.

I'm not sure if I want to rely on my magsafe case staying on well enough, or going with a clamp type to ensure the phone never falls off if it gets bumpy. Appreciate the posts!

This truck has turned into an expensive hobby lmao.

I’ve used the plugin ones for years. Yeah, some are better than others. I just select by ratings and about 15 minutes of Reddit.
