NEW MEMBER here with a 2006 Tundra regular cab 4WD with 138k miles and recently added 265/70/17 BFG KO2s. I'm in the marine repair business and haul boats up to 7000lbs short distances with the truck. I'm hoping to upgrade the suspension for work towing and a little off roading/beach driving.

I'm leaning towards a kit from Camburg (https://camburg.com/shop/suspension...yota-tundra-00-bilstein-6112-performance-kit/) which includes Bilstein 6112 front coilovers, Camburg uniball UCA and Bilstein 5100 rear shocks. I've already ordered Toyota OEM lower ball joints which I've read have a reputation of failing. Should I buy new "top hats" for the coilovers if I'm going through the trouble?

I'm interested in the "add-a-leaf" kits but am also looking at the Deaver G57 leaf springs. I don't know much about air bags, but am willing to look into that for heavy towing if thats a good option.

Is there anything I'm missing? Thanks a lot for any suggestions!

New HD leafs will really help with heavy towing. General springs sells a nice set. Reduces squat in the rear. Good rear shocks like the Bilsteins which run a little stiffer help too. RAS makes a nice helper spring setup, not sure if they have a system for our FGTs or not. Some folks run airbags. Main issue with towing a 7000# boat is they rarely have weight distribution hitches. So preventing the squat and having your hitch setup properly is paramount. Make sure your hitch is rated for that weight. Some aftermarket only go up to 5000#. Most boat trailers have surge brakes, so I don’t think you’ll need a brake controller, but maintaining or upgrading your brakes is a big deal with these trucks. Pretty weak brake setup from the factory that requires frequent adjustment in the rear to keep them operating properly.

Pretty sure everyone is out of stock on the 6112’s right now. Because of that I went with Icons on the Sequoia, and they ride awesome.

Rear on the Tundra I’m running Icon 3 leaf add a leaf pack, over load removed, with Firestone air bags. I have a nice street ride and just add air to the bags when I tow. Total investment <$500.

G57 are way too light for towing or a load. You need MD or HD from someone else. I have Archive Garage MD Shackeltons (they found the ship, Endurance) but the HD may be a good call too. There are several other springs that are good for you. Like @KNABORES mentioned, General for one. You probably want a +600# or up spring set if the leafs are the main load carrier (as opposed to supported by bags or active suspension. I don't know anything about those but guys have posted a lot of good results.
