Hello All, Just purchased a Rough Country 3 1/2" lift for by 2012 Tundra Dbl Cab 4x4 with hopes of putting on new tires 295/70r18 with a 4.6 for a motor. Come to find out they don't offer a performance chip for this motor. Have aftermarket wheels on truck now with stock 255/70r18 tires and has no problems pulling my tandem trailer with no more the 2000 lbs of kitchen cabinets (Own Kitchen Cabinet Dealership).

My question is how much sluggish and poor performing will truck be with new lift and tires for a everyday vehicle? Added a few links and the specs of my wheels. Trust me appreciate any input?

Bill you should be fine with that setup. I'm almost @ 3" and also run 295/70/18 with the 4.7. The 4.6 puts out more power than the 4.7. I also thought I would need a speed cal, but the difference was minimal @ 2 mph. I've towed my buddies 20' center console and can barely tell there's anything back there. I haven't noticed any power loss. What is the offset of your aftermarket wheels? The 295 is 1.6" wider than your stock tires, just curious.

Thanks Ron, very appreciated. I put the invoice from my aftermarket wheels in the attached picture with hopes someone knew. Do you think the Rough Country kit is a better way to go then the leveling kit? Finally have a little extra money and need new tires to begin with. Just want to do it right. They still are selling the same wheels

Me personally Bill, I would go with a full coilover . Toytec will definitely help you. If I had to pick between the Rough Country and spacer kit, I would go with the Rough Country. Your offset @ +25 is no problem with them 295's. I have a slight rub on passenger side front, but not enough to remove flap. As far as tires, your choices are endless. There are a lot of great AT's. I am running the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and love them. Good luck and post some pics when you get done

As far as suspension lift? Depends on what your doing with your Tundra. I have the Bilstein 6112's up front and the 5100's in the rear. I don't offroad, so this was a great set up for me. The Boss kit is real popular as is the OME.

So you are happy with the 295’s and 4.7? I have that motor also and running 275/70/18. I know there is a difference in them but would eventually like to run 295’s.

    How is your mpg?

Hasn't really changed, I know that sounds crazy, but pretty steady. I do have the SABM, (standard air box mod) I think that has helped. I'm headed up to Richmond, Va and I will get another reading. Been averaging around 17-18 highway.

Thanks Ron, not sure if that's in my price range now. This is what you have for the front?

My truck has never gotten 17-18 mpg, even when it had the stock 255's on it haha. I'm staying about 14-14.5 with my 275's.

    Is your Tundra a 4x4?

That explains it. I cheaped out and got a 2wd. I know I know:anonymous:. Your carrying extra weight with your transfer case. 4 wheel or not, Toyota needs to get these Tundras some better fuel mileage

Thanks Ron, I finally got ahold of Boss 4x4 they are supposed to be calling me back tomorrow afternoon. Did you install yours, yourself. Wondering how difficult these kits would be versus the 3 1/2" leveling kit I have.

Bill I had a local shop do mine. I originally was gonna do it with a friend, but our schedules didn't work. If you get them preassemmbled, then it's not a big deal vs assembling them yourself. Good luck with the installation of you decide to take it on.

Do you know how long roughly it took them to install? If I decide to go that route don't want to be taken to the bank...thanks again

Not off hand, but I know him and he cut me a deal. If you have them preassemmbled, it shouldn't be no more than 2 hrs. You would need to get alignment done. If your just doing front, I can't see it being much more then around $300, that of course is having them preassemmbled.
