I bought a 4.5in bds coilover lift and it calls for replacing the crossmember. From anyones personal experience would cutting the oem crossmember off and replacing it with the bds crossmember negatively effect the truck in any way other than possible trade in value?

Once you cut it, you can’t go back to stock. There are other kits out there that don’t require cutting the frame.

I would say yes, but much of that can depend on the potential buyer. I personally would not buy a truck with a cut crossmember.

No real need for a lift like that considering you can fit 35s/37s with 3 inch coilovers. But vendors sell 4-8 inch lift that cut the crossmember, so folks out there buy and install them because they like the very high look.

Bottom line, don't expect the lift to add value when you sell and it will deter some buyers, but could attract others. As Dan said, once it is cut, it is cut.
