so I just got my Bilstein 5100’s in the mail, and I am looking for an install video for the 3rd Gen tundra?
I haven’t been able to find any videos on a newer model tundra.
Does anyone have a link to a video showing the install process on the truck? (Front struts at least)
    Thanks!!

All I can say; whatever you do, do not remove the middle bolt on top of your strut assembly until you remove it completely, and then compress the spring down....

I plan on having someone with a coil compressor swap my coils... however I have seen it done Using a jack to lower the tension off the coil (slowly). I’m still undecided if I want to attempt!

Maybe just me, but that spring scares the crap out of me...I would get a good spring compressor and take every safety precaution.

A quality spring compressor is the way to go.

thanks so much. It seems like dropping the LCA out is a lot less work then removing the UCA.

Another quick question... When torquing the lower bolt on the strut, is there supposed to be weight on the suspension to prevent the bushing from being pre-loaded? And if so, how much?

You don’t need to drop the LCA or remove the UCA. But you will need to drop that front anti-sway bar and you’ll get enough movement. And have a buddy apply some pressure with a large crow bar or other tool you can get some leverage and that lower control arm will drop enough to pull the shock out and then do same when putting back in but guide the bottom of the shock.. shouldn’t be too bad. Done this 4 times over the last few months. Did my coils myself as well when I did the 5100s. Happy to chat as wanted

I’d follow the below, courtesy of ToyTec.
    B26F0C7E-D0A3-403B-B703-C76CC86820B5.jpg

I circled the route I have always taken, upper ball joint from spindle. Just don’t remove the castle nut completely and then use a rubber mallet to give it a smack and it will pop off the ball joint and get caught by the castle but you kept on.

Also you really only need to disconnect 1 side of the sway bar or if you have a stripped bolt like had, I just dropped the two mounting brackets and just let the sway bar hang while I did my work, but these are hard to get to without taking off the skid. Just remember to reconnect the sway when the vehicle is on the ground and weighted or it can get bound up, ask me how I know haha.

    Cheers,

Weight of the vehicle. I let my vehicle down off the jack a little more quickly then I normally would have to give it that “jounce”
