Have any of you tinted your sunroof? I’ve done some research but would like real world feedback. I’m in the devils as**hole FL. I leave it vented to release hot air but it seems even hotter with the sun burning through.

Some shops say it cracks glass and won’t do it and other say it’s a nonissue and do it. I haven’t personally done it but do tint my windows and windshield with ceramic tint. It worked well in my Tacoma with a small sunroof, but with the pano roof of the 3rd Gen it seems to let a lot more heat in. Was considering getting the sunroof on my truck done as well. Just have to find a shop willing to do it

I’ve found a shop, he stated he will use ceramic. Chances of cracking are minimal. Minimal seems questionable when taking about a gaping hole in my roof if there is a failure..

My shop did ceramic but only 40% they said any darker and it would crack. I don't understand the science behind it because both 40% and 5% block the same amount of heat so what is making it crack?

It’s not the blocking, tint also absorbs heat. The darker, the more heat the glass absorbs, causing more expansion and contraction of the glass. I don’t understand why it’s different on a roof as opposed to a back glass on sedan that is angled and receives the same amount of sun..
    Science is stupid!!

Sunroofs used to be double pained glass. Cracking /exploding was due to the pressure between the two pieces.
Times changed but old shops haven’t.
Go with ceramic , percentage 20% vs 5% is preference. Good ceramic will block the same heat and uv rays.

Mines done at ~20ish % like the rest of my windows. No issues so far but I do wish I had gone darker. It’s not quite dark enough when the suns shining straight down through it over my sunglasses.

Place I use did limo tint (5%) ceramic on three sun roofs (2 4Rs, one Jeep Liberty) for me and I've run them in the FL sun with no issues. My 5th gen has been fine for 13 years. It never occurred to me it could even be an issue, but I'd definitely recommend max tint approach if you live in a sunny place.

I got my windshield and sunroof tinted last summer. I live in Phoenix. I can definitely tell that it helps.

Sunroof tinted with Limo tint, no issues in the H-Town heat, I park in the lot at work, sun hits the Tundra at least 8 hours, but never too hot when I return.

Yes sir. I usually do clear or similar ceramic tint. I would absolutely do it again and recommend it.

My guy did 5% on my sunroof, haven't had any issues in 3 Texas summers. 5% brow on the windshield helps a bit as well

I did just recently in fact when I finally decided to do ceramic front window. Asked the shop manager at my go to tint shop (highly recommended and been in business 25 +/- yrs) and they recommended ceramic on sunroof. I did the 5 other windows in ceramic 4-ish yrs ago. Now having finished up front & sunroof in ceramic with the Texas heat I noticed a CONSIDERABLE reduction in cabin heat. Well worth it, my .02¢
