Lately, in the morning when I turn the key to start my 2004 Tundra, all I get is the normal lights, etc. but no ignition. And then later it'll start right up. And start no problem the rest of the day. This doesn't happen every morning, and sometimes not for days. It has a fresh starter and relay. Any guesses? And thanks for the help.

I'd say you need a new ignition.

So power, turn key, no crank? Does it lose any power at all when it no cranks? Have you verified that all of the grounds are tight?
We can just throw guesses at it and you can spend your money until you tell us to stop.

When I turn the key to accessory all the proper lights, etc happen. Turn to ignition, nothing. Maybe a slight "dink"from the dash?

Were you have this issue prior to the new starter and new relay? What other electrical work have you done prior to this issue?

I appreciate the guesses. I'm thinking the ignition too, but my mechanic doubted that because of the lights, etc seeming normal.

Yeah, this has been going on for a while. I've dropped it at the garage and few times, but of course then it starts right up. The starter and relay last week was the first money I've thrown at it.

Have you tested the battery and cleaned the terminals?

This usually ends up being bad battery cables. Corroded inside. The ground cable is the likely culprit. Worth checking all of the engine grounds as well. I wouldn’t dismiss the battery terminals either. My no start condition recently was terminals that looked ok, but weren’t making good contact. I could wiggle them by hand if I tried hard enough.

Found the problem. The previous owner had installed an aftermarket starter disabling device and it was tucked so far under the dash it was almost impossible to notice unless you were laying in the floor. My mechanic can't explain how it hasn't caused trouble before, apparently you're supposed to have some sort of fob on the key ring to start the truck. But anyway, thanks for the help everybody!
