I just did a road trip yesterday and noticed that as I headed south my compass was stuck on North for hours and not changing at all with changes in the truck's heading. I need to verify this again but it seems to only change on restart then keep whatever direction it finds until the next restart. Is there a way to reset this thing? Or is it just bustified? It used to work fine, last I checked.

On the plus side, my tonneau cover stayed on for the entire trip and I needed only 1 gas stop to drive the 1000 miles. With the big fuel tank these things really have some legs. Oh, as for MPG, it got 20 MPG driving mostly 70-75 MPH.

Were you driving using Waze or Google Maps for directions? Mine will stay at north when following directions on Waze.

Google maps, which I do not have set to map always north. But this happens even while not navigating. There should be no interface between the map app and the onboard hardware compass anyway.

Not sure how the interface works, but every time I am following directions on Waze through Android auto, it stays on North. Not sure what the issue is with yours. I think I have read about people having similar issues in this forum.

After some more testing, I believe you are onto something. Whenever I start to navigate with Google Maps and CarPlay my compass display just freezes... not north but just wherever it happens to be pointing at the time and then stays that way until I stop navigating. Very odd behavior and I really don't understand how CarPlay/Google maps can affect this hardware. But there it is.

1000 miles with one fill up is very good. I took my son from Boston to Penn State and back. The total trip was just over 900 miles and I filled up once as well doing 75-85 the whole time. I thought that was great

updated information. Drove the Tundra this morning and used Apple Maps. Apparently the recent update to the head unit fixed the compass problem. I used apple maps and the heads up compass display now is working.

And it really wasn't even close. The one fill up I did took only 24 gallons so I could have easily deferred that for another 75 miles. BTW my GF is a Penn State fan... which means I also have to be one... and we have a farm up in Central PA about an hour from State College.

How do we get the H/U updates? Are they automatic?

On my 1794 the screen indicated i had an update and did i wish to download it. I didn't have to do anything to get it. I think others on this forum have experienced the same thing. It seems to be a notification to segments rather than to everyone at the same time.
