07 Toyota Tundra limited crew cab 5.7 Trd. The other day i noticed my transmission abruptly acting off, especially goin into 1st, 5th and 6th gears, an hour later I get the VSC off light blinking along with Engine light on and Trac light on. I carefully finished my trip home. I caught myself looking over almost every wire including speed sensors on tires, I initially thought it was something to do with the API system which is bypassed on my truck. I was able to put an OBD reader on it and pulling the codes C1201 and C1247, which are Engine Control System Malfunction and Stroke Sensor. It also is reading a shift lever failure but that seems to be working fine, no code. I reset the alarms on the dash by taking negative terminal off for 5 minutes. The truck is still having problems with the transmission hard shifting mainly in 5th and 6th gears with a very slight feeling of power loss. Any help with what this may be would be greatly appreciated. Can a faulty stroke sensor cause this?

The truck has 175,000 miles and there are no transmission or powertrain codes that the obd read. I have owned it 2 years.

Have you ever changed the transmission fluid?

I haven’t, I’ve put 25k on truck. I need to see if car fax says anything. Could the level or fluid quality affect certain gears? I found out it doesn’t have a dipstick and only a sightglass.

Yes, the fluid quality will affect the operation of the transmission. I would do a drain and fill (be sure to do some research on how this is properly done, it's not super straightforward), then drive 100 miles, then repeat 2-3 more times.

I’m gonna go out on a quick google search limb and say the c1247 code will earn you a new brake booster. That should take care of the other code too.

Edit: not sure if any of that will affect the trans unless it’s in limp mode.

Edit again: maybe the trans was in limp mode and now it just needs to relearn you driving habits after battery disconnect.

Ok, appreciate the advice. Im gonna tackle some of these problems on my off days. I was considering which was more important first to take care of. I just figured with any major issues to the trans it would of sent codes but none.

My exhaust pipe keeps needing a yearly patch since it broke just before the rear end so, it broke and it fell and was dragging the ground so I unhook the rubber hanger and pull it out hitting things underneath and now my 4hi4lo abs and traction
Lights are all on!! So probably bumped a wire or whatever was running across the rear end never had this and I’ve done the emissions crap last year so it’s not those codes or lights just saying
