Hello, and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post. I have a 2012 Tundra crew max sr5 with the 5.7L. It's got about 140k miles on it and has been an excellent truck. Lately however I'm having a very confusing issue with my A/C. I live in South Texas and haul my kids around in my truck sometimes, so it's important, lol. So my A/C is still blowing cold, no issues there, but it seems to not be engaging the "Max A/C". What I mean is that when you go from one setting down from max, to max, there's a noticeable difference in air current from the vents, I'm sure you all know what I mean. But that doesn't happen anymore in my truck. I've replaced the cabin air filter, and I just replaced the blower motor as well last week to try and fix it. What do you guys think it could be? Is there a relay or fuse specifically for the "max a/C" setting or something? Like I said it's still blowing nice and cold.

Thank you guys for reading and any help you can offer.

The difference between A/C being on it’s coldest setting and the mythical “A/C Max” is whether the air flow is fresh from outside or is recirculated air. Max is recic, and the fan is drawing intake air from inside the cab. That is why it sounds like HVAC beast mode.

That said, it sounds as though your recirc. air door isn’t moving, and my first suspect would be the actuator that opens and closes that air door.

Phil I think you're probably exactly right, what you said made a lot of sense. I'll have to look into how to replace it. Thank you!

So after google searching for a bit the only door I can find mention of is the heater blend door? Is that what I'm looking for? I can't seem to find an air recirculation door. Apparently there's two of these blend doors since I have the dual climate settings? Thank you

There should be four separate air doors and actuators on your truck with dual climate control. One for recirc / fresh air, two “blend air” for temperature - heat / cool, and one for mode - floor vents / dash vents / defrost.

I haven’t had any HVAC issues with my Tundra, so can’t help with the exact locations. I’ll see if I can dig something up for you.
