    Question to 2022 owners,
    1. Can this feature (more like an annoyance) be disabled ?

    2. When in traffic and engine stops, does A/C keep running ? I live in the arid desert of Az and we get to 3 digits in July and August...

    Thanks

a few threads on this... As of now, your only option is hitting the button each time you get in... There is a company out of WV that develops delete options, but they are waiting on a 22 to use for research....

It will keep running the fan but the AC is effectively off if the engine is off. It will restart the engine if the AC is requested on. But also it’s really easy to control when the engine turns off or on by the brake pedal. The vehicle can be stopped with moderate brake pedal pressure and the engine will keep running. A bit more brake pressure will shut the engine off. And pressing the brake pedal deeper or slightly releasing will turn the engine on again.

I agree with above, it’s actually a great system by Toyota and easy to control with your brake. I’d say the only time I press hard enough to shut it down is on those really long red light intersections and a nice little timer pops up to tell you how long it has been off for. I haven’t noticed any decrease in AC and it’s been high 90’s the last few weeks here in Boston.

    1. Yes it can be disabled via a button on the left side of the dash, by the door. However, it only kicks in if you press the brake pretty firmly. In the 10k miles I’ve had the truck it’s only done it a few times. Almost all the time when I come to a stop, I’m not pressing down on the brakes far enough to activate it. I have to activate press down further on the brake to activate it.

    2. The truck won’t activate the start/stop if it doesn’t think the AC can meet it’s required set point. I’ve had numerous times where the message “start stop unavailable because of climate control” pops up and the car stays running. I’m in SoCal, not as hot as Az but I haven’t had any issues regarding this.

Thanks guys for your answers. It seems it won't be an issue for me.
