Hey guys, wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Local tire shop rebalanced and local body shop did alignment about a month ago. Got a little better. Had Toyota do it with road force elite got it a little tighter but unfortunately still there. It’s not horrible but when I’m driving it’s usually for a long time on the freeway.

I’m running KO3s in a 33 that have maybe 3k miles on them. Wondering if the tires are just difficult to get perfectly balanced or if odd wear pattern or something completely unrelated.

Had an alignment done on my truck today for the same reason, good shop. There were some toe issues. Still similar vibration at 65mph. Then discount tire did a rebalance with Hunter road force machines and they did alot of corrections. Still 65mph vibrations just different now. Discount gave me the numbers for the tires I forget the description of the numbers, but amounts to even after corrections how out of balance they really still are. My 35” duratracs were in the mid 50s and he said anything above 45 indicates an issue, thus the tires themselves, at least after losing 5/32nds of tread are just not going to ride that well.

If tread wear pattern is not what it should be. In other words, do they have irregular wear? If so you can play with air pressure my help. But, if they already have irregular wear it could be tires fault. I got a saying when it comes to balancing a tire. You can balance a square but the doesn't mean it is going to ride right.

In my case they have even wear both visually and when the tech used a laser depth reader.

Definitely agree. I am curious if I have some other issue like my driveshaft is out of balance or wheel bearings or something like that. Could just be the wheels aren’t really balance-able which would suck. I don’t drive this on the freeway often so just going to let it be in my case.

KO3 is ridiculously tough to keep balanced from what I've heard, great tire but that alone prevented me from trying them.

yeah I’m pretty certain it’s a wheel balance issue. They are so good in the snow but I spend more time on couple hour highway trips, probably going to end up going back to wildpeaks

I put on RC N3 2" leveling struts, 285/60 Toyo AT3 tires, and 20x9 +20 Weld wheels in March.

Noticed some uneven wear after a few weeks so I got the tires rotated and had another alignment. After a couple weeks the tires looked better to the naked eye but there were vibrations over 60 on the highway.

Tried a new local shop and explained what had been done up to that point... they road-forced and rebalanced the tires (they said each tire was off by over an oz) and did yet another alignment... and I'm so glad they did.

It rides perfectly smooth now, even at 100mph on the highway - yes I tried! Now my truck is just how I imagined it would be - powerful, comfortable, looks great, and rides ultra smooth.

I would advise you to keep trying because once you get it right it's worth it.

Recently upgraded to KO3s (305/70/17) and method 703s from OEM (gen3). above 55mph there was a high frequency vibration through the gas pedal that i could feel in my foot for hours after. Discount rebalanced the tires and the vibration basically disappeared. Method advised using extended thread lug nuts instead of the standard acorns that i originally used, to minimize vibration/long term wear. sounds like ko3s are a balancing challenge but they ride great now. good luck.

Man that's awesome. I do feel like it's much better than what it was and is getting better as I drive, I believe I have an uneven wear pattern on one or my tires. What rotation pattern did you use to get it to balance out? Seems my wear is on front left.

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
Find a tire shop that will balance the wheels while they are on the truck. There is usually one shop in a big town that has the machine to do it.

I took it to a big Toyota dealership with Road Force Elite. It was a huge improvement so pretty convinced I got some wear from a long trip I took when the tires were still new and in terrible balance.

I don't know the rotation pattern... but I saw them take each tire off, road force it, then rebalance each one... then did the alignment. They used the OEM lift alignment specs... and presto, no more vibrations.

I had the same issue with KO2s and Discount Tire determined that one of the tires had a “heavy side” and replaced the tire under warranty. After that I didn’t have any more problems. The BFGs are notorious for being difficult to balance depending on the wheel combo. On my 2010 TT FJ Cruiser, nobody was able to ever get a completely good balance because of the fake beadlock TRD wheels and BFG combo.
