    Hello,

I am looking for a steering wheel sensor wore hardness and also if anybody knows where it goes to under the dashboard. 3 wires are melted and grounded to the frame somehow. The issue was a very common one for this vehicle, regarding the 7.5 Amp fuse located under the left side of the dashboard. Hard to believe that this fuse kills lots of circuits and lights up every light on your dashboard. Please see pictures for reference. I would like to just replace this hardness instead of chasing all wires and see if that fixes it completely. At the very minimum it will let me know of other problems. Thanks in advance. 2010 Toyota Tundra.

It runs into one of the main body harnesses. Your only real option is to reaplace the broken wires in yours.

You cant just remove the "harness" for the steering wheel sensor alone, it is all tied together. You would have to replace a major harness under the dash that runs to almost everything in the steering column and then some.

I would be fixing the damaged part of yours.

Thank you for the response. I was afraid of that, you mentioned the a main wire hardness. Any idea where? Left/right side etc? Thank you.

Well, I guess I should chase these 3 wires, isolated the problem to only these 3 wires. I can see a few bare spots and it causing to blow the fuse. If you have the schematic would you please upload so I can chase these wires please. Thanks.

This is great info. Prior to this I checked voltage on all of these wires, I have 12v on red and 12v on green when key is on, the white and black grounds to frame. So I assumed the green wire is touching the ground wire somewhere where I can't see because it only blows the fuse when key is on. I am not an expert on troubleshooting electrical but I know a little bit and lots of reading. So I assumed I was on the right track. Thank you for posting this info.

Is the light green wire the one with the burn marks? It would make sense that wire is grounded somewhere as it’s only blowing the fuse with the key on.

Make sure no bare wire is showing on the ground or the light green power wire.

Check the light green wire for contact with a metal surface somewhere

Yes, the green wire has frayed spots, I can see a few but i.would.have to completely eliminate that wire or chase it from beginning to end to make sure no other spots are the same. I assumed it was touching the white and black wire I do see a few spots on that ground wire so I need to make sure these are the only two. I might just run new wires from one end to the other to test that theory and if that stops the problem then it should be good. Thoughts?

Ok , I finally have time to get into it again. Can someone explain this schematic? I believe my issue is the #1 LG on H6 Steering sensor rubbing again W-B wire on #2 on H6 causing it to blow the fuse only when the ignition key is in the ON position. If I replace LG wire from fuse block to H6 would that fix the problem assuming I am right on the wire grounding to the W-B? LG to SB than to P which ends at fuse block. I have disconnected the ABS and still blew the fuse so this is the only one left I believe.
