Hey just wondering who people used for steering racks? I am replacing the rack on my 2004 DC and I've seen mixed reviews for the A1 cardone and most people seem to agree that even the "new" racks from Toyota are just rebuilds at this point. The OEM racks are around $865. My question is is it worth it if its actually just a rebuild or is there somebody that rebuilds these for a fair price?

I was originally gonna go with rack doctor after seeing a few people on this forum recommend them. But I called them up and had the worst customer service ever. I called to see if the rack was in stock and they told me it would be 2 weeks until they mailed it out but they had it in stock. Ok, everybody is backordered these days I get it. But then they said "if you send us your rack though we can have it done in 48 hours and send it back to you". I asked how could that be, you have a list of people who have orders in that's so backed up that you can't put the rack that you have in stock in a box and send it to me for 2 weeks but you will take the time to rebuild the one I send in and send it back to me in 48 hours? The lady just got mad, told me that if I wanted to order do it, she didn't care, and then hung up on me. So I'm pretty sure they just drop ship you somebody else's rebuilds and she didn't want to say that.

I went with one from Detroit axle, but have yet to install it. But, they're OOS anyways. Sucks to hear about the service at rack doctor.

There are two steering racks, one is $500 and the other is $800. Are you sure you need the more expensive one? I've heard mostly positive from detroit axle, but seems a little hit and miss.

CVJ does rack rebuilds, but you have to call them.
