Just joined the site. Plan to buy new Tundra SR5 Crewmax 4x4 before Dec 31. In my opinion the factory steel wheels offered on the SR5 are extremely plain. In an attempt to initially save some money and also think out of the box a little I have been trying to think of a way to "customize" the factory steel wheels with, maybe, chrome lug nuts, chrome center caps, or chrome rims to fit the wheels, much like the stock GM rally wheels in the early '70s. Does anyone on this site know if such aftermarket options exist?

I haven't seen many options for the steel wheels other than spray painting them a different color. If you like the TRD OR alloys, I would try to include them when you negotiate the price on the truck. No harm trying especially with a year end sale. Worst case is they say no.

They make plastic covers that are cheap. They come in black or chrome. I have seen them on used trucks. They don't look to bad. Even better from 20 feet. I have thought about getting black ones. I have also seen the center caps painted/dipped black.

You can buy a slightly used set of take-off TRD wheels relatively cheap. Watch this forum and craigslist, they're always popping up. That's what I did.

They do make chrome covers for the "styled steel" OEM wheels

I thought sr5 s come with alloy wheels? But like others have said, there are enough people modding their tundras that you can find take offs here or on craigslist for a reasonable price.
