Removed the 3 bolts on starter and unable to pull starter out - will not budge.
Any tricks to loosen it up - already spray it with Blaster penetrating oil a couple of times?

Whack it side to side with a rubber mallet.

I whack it many times - called Toyota service and he said to loosen the engine mounts and jack the engine - what would that do to?
Though getting to those nuts is a challenge and don't see a way to jack up the engine - to much stuff in the way?

Not sure why they would tell you that, pretty sure there are only 3 bolts that hold the starter, and you already removed them. Here's a few vids which might help, good luck

Thank you and I viewed those before I took it apart - though no one ever mention about difficulty in pulling it out and could not find a reason for that happening. Will go back at it tomorrow if it stops raining - very strange...
It stop working as I was out in the field pulling a trailer .

All you can do is get something very thin but somewhat strong (chisel?) between the block and starter to try and start it to seperate. Lowering the trans won’t do jack. They might of been thinking removing transmission (they commonly get stuck on the dowels)

Hoping you get the old starter removed. Suggest upgrading to the HD Denso Starter which actually costs less than the light duty.

Thank you, sprayed it with more Blaster penetrating oil. Have a friend who is a mechanic said electrolysis between the cast steel and aluminum head of the starter - probably welded them together. Used a thin pry-bar and hammer open up a pinch - still will not move. Already had purchase the 2.0kw starter for $99.89 from Napa with lifetime warranty.

Maybe heat her up a bit with a torch. Be careful of the wire harness.

Thanks, Yes and no - too much plastic, wires, hoses next to and in contact with it - will give it another day first. See if the penetrating oil will do the trick.

Guy, stuff some rags into the intake ports, you don't want anything falling down into them. Good luck with the soak.

Use a large punch (1/2" extension will work in a pinch) and try and tap on the bolt ears to rotate it left and right. See if that helps break it free.

Yes, had the ports cover with two towels took them off for the photos. Only can get to one of the ears, the other one has a plastic cover over it - will see if I can get it off tomorrow.

any chance you can apply power to it briefly? that may help pop it loose if if there is tension in the starter gear...
or 2x4 + sledge - looks like you have access.

Likely won’t do anything other than risk the engine turning over and letting shit into the cylinders I’m afraid. Best practice here is rust penetrant and a little bit of heat.

Also isn’t the coolant supposed to be pink? If you look at the passenger side puddle, do you notice anything else hanging out in there?

Heat it with some map gas and give’r a few good whacks with a 3lb sledge. You’re replacing the starter anyways so you don’t have to be gentle.

Thank you all - finally the starter is unstuck - from the small bar to a wonder bar then my son 39, 6'2" 275 lbs. and a three foot crow bar broke it loose.
