Just got a 4x4 Tundra around 22k miles. This is my first 4x4. When I take off after starting the truck I get a very brief rub sensation. Feels like driver's side. By brief we're talking maybe 1 second. I test drove 4 and I felt this sensation in 3 so I'm thinking it is a common issue? Any help on what this is and whether it is normal or an issue that needs to be addressed? Once driving I don't feel this any further. Driving is smooth and quiet

Sorry man, I have no idea. Maybe some new technology that is an automatic parking brake release? My gfs Volvo has that. As soon as it's put in park, the emergency brake is engaged automatically. When we go into drive then the emergency brake releases. But I've never felt any rubbing.

Thanks for confirming. I had a 2007 2wd and it didn't do this so figured it might be 4x4 version specific. That said 2007 was 14 model years older and things very well may have changed a bit =) My 2007 never ran the air injection pumps at shutoff where 2021 does and I saw the car carenut guy explain why this change was made; to ensure any moistute present is exhausted before shutting off engine so pumps don't corrode.

    Appreciate you chiming in.

2WD or 4WD doesn't matter, all of them do it. First time definitely sounds odd if you're not familiar with it.
