Am going to attempt getting a 2023 in the US market sometime this upcoming year. Want to get the specs in the thread title but also want the larger tank for greater range. Will that model including the OR package with the heated steering wheel have the bigger tank or do you need a higher level OR package to get it.

I can’t see the spec sheet when I build it on the Toyota site.

For 53k you would think the bigger tank would be included. TIA.

It's not the off-road package that gives you the big tank it's the convenience package.

I think only the super base 'contractors special' SR with the detuned motor comes with the smaller tank, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought I remembered reading here somewhere that the SR5 CM with the 6.5 bed regardless of packages got the bigger tank but I could be wrong.

I can't figure out what option package gives the larger tank. My Limited Doublecab with no OR but every other available package has the smaller tank.

that’s odd I only get the 580$ Convenience Package on my builder. None of the options listed even mention the larger tank.

Oh I see. Perfect thanks for that! Good to know I won’t need to scour in a junkyard years later to find the bigger tank for a swap.

'22 Limited CM 6.5ft bed, no packages, comes standard with smaller tank. Probably a 23 thing but I wish the larger tank came standard...

How do you know it's the smaller tank? It's not a '23 thing, the CM/6.5 bed has had the 32 gallon tank since the debut.

I would assume the window sticker would say something about the tank capacity but doesn't not. I will say with 100% certainty, each top up from near-empty is always around 20-21 gallons

That's actually fairly common, my 2020 had a 38 gallon tank and I usually filled it up at a half tank and it would only take 14 gallons. The couple times I ran it down to the fuel light and it would only take 30-31. I'm only on my third tank in the 2022 but I did run the first tank down to the light and it took 20.822 gallons. About the same as you. I track every fuel up with Fuelly.

You can also get under the truck and measure the tank. The 32 gallon tank is a ridiculous monster, it's like 7 1/2 feet long.

18k miles in... never occured to me to inspect the truck, nor the tank for the matter. To be fair, duty called and have been away from home 80% of the time.

I'm intrigued though. I never optioned the larger bed on my online builds at the time and ended up with one. I was surprised my dealer even had a Tundra to sell given my timeframe home :bananadance:

I'm convinced my tank is 22.5 but I'll post my findings here when I measure it. Btw I get around 500 miles per tank. Which tank size would that be more in line with? Mostly highway miles averaging 19.5ish. Even with math, that's 25gal so I'm kinda stuck here hahaha

That’s normal for a 32 gal tank have 6 gal reserve and a few gal to keep the fuel pump Submerge. truck is build for towing and hauling and when you tow, it’s only going to get 10mpg.

I'm starting to think the small tank is actually more like 24-25 gallons. Twice now I have put in over 23 gallons with the range showing about 50 miles left and no fuel light on. Does this truck even have a low fuel light? Have never seen it. The first time I just figured the gas station was ripping me off, but it happened again today when I was at around 500 miles on a highway trip. I only fill to the first click too, so I don't think I'm overfilling the neck.

On my Yaris (not really comparable but still a Toyota) the light didn't come on until like a 9km range was left in the tank

I don't remember seeing a light but once you driver long enough with 1 mile to empty it'll switch to "low fuel" in the cluster screen.

Just filled my baby up. She took 23.5 gallons and the dash told me 88 miles until empty. I'm supposed to have a 31 gallon tank. I'm too chicken to let that needle drop any lower, but surely there is more than that left in her.

Edit: the actual gauge was at 1/4 tank remaining.

Low fuel light came on just after hitting 24 miles left on the tank.
Drive a few more miles then filled up.
She took nearly 27 gallons. Cluster read 13 miles remaining just before it auto reset.
I think I've been cheated out of a larger tank.

Has anyone seen the truck take all 31 gallons???

This is normal. Would you rather it alert you when it's near sucking fumes? Worst case, you don't pay attention to it. Got on a highway that's desolate. Then the light came on and you had an actual range of 10-15 miles. That may not make it to the next stop. BUT having 4-5 gallons in reserve, you panic when the light comes on but you start looking for the next stop hoping it's within the next 75 miles. You can drive for a while after the light comes on. In my 19, it stayed on 0 or 1 miles till empty for a couple miles and then just said low fuel. If you wanted to see how far you can go, get a 5gal jug of gas and record how many miles you go till it dies.
