After much worrying that I had something expensive squeaking in the front end I found that the hood was what was squeaking. I can move the hook a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch and in that the hood release is squeaking against the catch.

Thoughts on a fix? Is there some play on the hood latch I should attempt to move? Is there a plastic cover missing on the catch?

This is where the squeak is

    Thanks,

some chassis grease will fix it, even a shot of wd40 would probably keep it quiet for a while. Friction points like that on any vehicle should be lubed every year or so- door and hood hinges, tailgate, if it moves throw some lube at it occasionally.
