Spyder headlights finished...... I think.....

Well after a nightmare experience with a so called company (actually still not over for i have not received them back yet) I maybe getting my Spyder headlights back. These are the pics he sent me before shipping. He was just supposed to open lights up. Color match them and switch out the amber side reflectors with clear. A month later with one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a so called business and here they are. Again God knows what they will look like in person. Hopefully everything works and they do not leak that is if they look okay. As I already noticed one of the new reflectors looks like the edge is cracked off

 

That looks nice. I hope you can put the bad experience behind and enjoy the lights. It's sad that there are businesses who just don't care about customer service.

 

You are not kidding communication is a major part of a business. I left him voice mails, text messages, email, Instagram messages and he would just not get back to me at all . If you're a good business when a customer asks a question you generally respond fairly quick. And when you ask when your things will be done it shouldn't take 7 times to finally get an answer. Like I said let me see what they look like in person.

eledobleu originally put new Morimoto ds2 4.0 in last year. As well as Morimoto RGB's for the LEDs. To be honest these headlights have been a thorn in my side. This a hole that just had them wrote this to me in a parting email. One of the few responses from him and last im sure.

Your headlights are complete. To be perfectly honest. I could say a lot out of emotion but it would not even matter. Send me your address and they will be shipped tomorrow night. These have been the worst headlights to work on and I've got a lot of crappy work from others and managed to fix it. But thanks to this set I will no longer offer fix other people's stuff service ever again. Whoever built them first did a lot wrong that had nothing to do with me. And yet we managed to "clean it up." My painter went through hell trying to paint them. He charged me more than I needed so I made 0 profit from this "small" job. An I still have to pay insured shipping.

So the only reply I want to see from this email is and address and nothing more. I don't need a long drawn out message about anything at all. Just and address and that will be the end of all of this bull.

There's no warranty with these lights from my end, because they were wrecked from the moment I had them.

I do not want any referrals from you.
You don't even have to say who I did them.
I want nothing more from this transaction in any form.

That is what he said. I think he's just covering his ass. So when they show up looking like shit he could say it was someone else. Not that this guy is ever going to respond to me again.

His email to you actually sounded pretty honest. Sucks you had to go through all that, hope they are good now. Sometimes retro’ing spyders aren’t the greatest because there quality is lower than oems. But yours doesn’t look bad after all is sAid and done. Good luck.

 

Why didnt u send them back to @eledobleu so he can do what ever else u wanted? Instead of sending them to another person

 

Because he said he had issues with them. And did not want to work on aftermarket lights... (Spyder) anymore. He cracked a bezel and had to get another one so he said. That's why. He did my current lights on my truck as well. They look great and are holding up well.

Glad that they're headed back to you. Sucks that things went sideways with them. IMO they'll look great mounted.

Not to over-sympathize with the guy, but it can suck working on projects other people started. Case in point, the guy who initially did them flatly refused to touch them again.
What does that tell you about these headlights? What does that tell you about his work?
There is no common standard for these custom jobs and anticipating future modifications is probably the least important requirement on a whole range of checkboxes a retrofitter is trying to hit for his customer.
No matter the trade, everyone thinks the way they do it is the best way and to them it might be true.
You're frustrated. Dude is no doubt frustrated. But I think there is probably a good lesson in here...

Given that your preferred retrofitter gave up on working Spyders (even going so far as refusing to service the ones he had personally modified), and this newest retrofitter making it his last, I think that the lesson here may be:
"Be cautious when attempting to retrofit Spyder Headlights, and if you are going to do it, it's probably easier to start with a fresh set."

 

understood about the lights. But it was the communication part that I'm really complaining about. This guy blatantly ignored my emails text messages and voicemails. Absolutely unacceptable. When you're down in Tennessee and I'm up in New Jersey and you have my money and my lights and don't get back to me. What would anyone else think? Then spins it around and tells me all this information at the last second like I'm supposed to know. The first phone call I had with him he told me he should probably have this done within a week. The price he gave me and I paid was shipped as well so I don't want to hear any complaining about that bullshit If only he would have communicated like a normal person from the beginning there never would have been an issue.
Don't believe it....I don't think they were done wrong but who knows. I don't think that is possible for they are custom and mocked up Also all of that he said in the email was the first time me hearing any of this. His communication is horrible. Then he drops all that shit on me like I am supposed to know.

 

Plus on top of all of this I'm going to wait until after I receive them but to me seems like he cracked the reflector and then sent send them back to me like that. Obviously rushing to get them done which I was never trying to make him do. Just bad business all around

 

Well hopefully it works out. Yeah the reflector is dinged up a bit.
