I was looking under my dash to find the connector for my brake controller, and I found this attached, sitting up underneath, strapped on.

I bought my truck ('15) from a Toyota dealer a little over a year ago.

Was this left over from the prior owner?

Am (was) I being tracked? :)

Company I worked for put GPS trackers in their trucks. I think it's more common than what we think. Wouldn't be suprised if some dealers install them if the vehicle is financed.

I'd find the color codes, wire that sucker up and send it to friends in India if I found it under my dash.

I was on the (driver's side) floor board shining a flash light up in dash/steering column area, where the brake controller connector would be. The GPS device was zip tied to the vent right there, in plain sight ... if you're looking from underneath.

I disconnected it (it has a plug). Will find out soon if the truck operates without it. :)

Dealerships installing in New vehicles claiming in case its stolen. I have my suspicions in case someone gets behind on payments as well.

The service dept at my dealer said it's a KAHU and they were told to install it when it was traded in.

Looking up KAHU, it's advertised as a feature/app for customers. I don't recall being told about it, and I certainly don't want it.

The service dept directed me to sales, who directed me to a "manager", which was voicemail.

The service dept won't tell me how to remove it, in case I break something. Seems I'll have to take it in to be properly removed. :(

The "sales dept" manager called me back and explained it was added when the vehicle was traded in for inventory and test drive purposes. He also said it was deactivated when I purchased it (even though it flashed away when connected). I asked if I could disconnect it? He said sure.
So I did, leaving the harness there.
    And everything still works.

The drug cartels use these, too. Probably not a good time to start watching To Catch a Smuggler on Hulu!
