My question: is there a spin on oil filter that can replace the cartridge style filter on my 2011 5.7 Tundra?

Someone mentioned on this site what a pain it is to change the oil and filter. In my many decades of working on cars I have never encountered such a fiasco in changing oil as this job is on the Tundra. There is nothing I can do about wrestling with the skid plate, on my back, but a spin on filter would sure make the job easier and cleaner. I wonder if Toyota engineers ever changed oil on anything before they came up with this design.

Thanks for the tip. If there is no after market spin-on filters out there, this would definitely help.

Literally you can change to a skid plate with a door, or make a door for the factory skid

    2 screws and it's open

The best solution I’ve found so far is a bud built skid plate with access door. I also installed a fumoto valve drain plug with a hose on the oil pan.
