What is the universal measurement of speed?
Is it how fast you can go 1/4 or 1/2 mile
Or is it your 0-60mph time?

I would think that there’s no correlation between them. For example if you have a 9 sec 0-60 that don’t mean you will beat someone in the 1/4 that has a slower 0-60 - am i correct in this scenario

    Ok…lol

what I’m trying to express is
    Not the speed =time/ distance
But is it more acceptable to have a better 0-60 time or better 1/4 or 1/2 time

They're two completely different metrics, it depends on what your requirements are. Personally I don't go drag racing, so the only figure I usually care about is 0-60 since that's more representative of just bouncing between stop lights. If you like drag strips then 0-60 isn't of much use I'd imagine. Likewise 1/2 mile times wouldn't matter if you only race 1/4 mile. Same thing with standing mile racing, roll racing, etc. Depends on what you use the truck for and prefer.

Aren't the two related? The faster you can accelerate to 60 mph (or any speed), the faster you can get through the quarter mile.

I don't remember the specifics now but I recall discussing with my brother something along the lines of to drop your quarter mile time by 1 second, you have to increase your average speed by a significant amount - much more than you think you should.

In a near 3 ton truck?

Either could probably be timed with a calendar, so I'm not sure it really matters.

One of the available metrics I saw when I got the new Kenwood HU with Maestro gauge package was 0-60 time, and my first thought was "Yeah, I'm totally gonna' need that one!"

If you're talking drag racing the 60' time is probably more relative than 0-60

    Okay
Got it. Victim of overthinking on this one.
I was just listening to guys talking about their trucks ram rebel inline turbo six and ford f150 eco boost. One was faster 0-60 mph and the other guy was like it don’t matter run a 1/4 mile against him.
They probably won’t ever run them but I was listening and wondering

Got it and if they ever got a run I would be surprised that they weren’t all talk. But
What you said puts everything into perspective

Yerp, in drags it's not at all uncommon that the winner with the faster ET will have a lower MPH, so getting to speed QUICK is usually way more important than how FAST you go.

Your 60' times, what you're doing at the 1/8th mile, weigh heavier than the top speed you pull on the back end.

Let's see what Cleetus has to say!

Racing is won by spending the most time in a state of acceleration and what its profile looks like. Velocity is just the byproduct of the machine and course/distance.

Unless you’re gonna race your truck, who cares. It needs to accelerate quickly enough to get me into traffic safely. It needs to have enough power to pull my camper. Beyond that, not interested in the horsepower wars or whatever.

If you're not familiar with Cleetus, check out his YouTube channel, super cool and multi-talented guy.

Reminds me of a story where some missionary pilots send Piper a letter asking how long would it take to get a Piper Apache airborne with one engine out. Piper's response? " Would you like that in days or weeks?"

Well. There was Stephanie. The crazy redhead from the rival high school. She was fast. Or was she quick? Back then a Motel 6 room was 5.99. How does that figure into the equation? She'd leave your back looking like the staging lanes at Pomona.
