I'm new to Tundras.com and was looking for some info on the spare tire releasing mechanism. I have a 2004 Double Cab and the Releasing mechanism is rusted and frozen. I cannot engage the mechanism to turn and lower the spare. Anyone have this problem. I wanted to check before I got under there with a grinder and cut it out. HELP!

Mine’s pretty visibly rusted, been meaning to test it for function. Worried I’ll be faced with the same delimma. Believe the replacement mount system is pretty cheap and easy to install though, once you get the old one off!

    Welcome aboard!

Try soaking it with PBblaster for a few days and see if it helps. :fingerscrossed:
