Just wanted to share my input here in case it helps anyone out.

I initially threw 2” spacers on my truck to level it out cause I knew I wanted beefier tires. I did some research on suspension lifts but felt that it was out of my budget at the time and thought these would be a good temporary solution. I was able to fit 285/65r20 nitto rg’s (34.8”) and was happy with the look but not the feel. To say it rode rough is an understatement. Even the dip backing off my driveway would feel like the truck was on stilts.

I decided the spacers needed to go. I didn’t want to go overkill but wanted the improved ride quality so I went with on fox 2.0s with rear resis. I spoke with a friend who runs them on his f150 and he said it rode plush on street. Mine is seeing pavement 90% of the time so it’s working out perfect.

The ride quality is super nice! It’s a day and night difference. It handles way better, soaks up bumps, and is a joy to drive. Very happy with the decision and ride quality.

IMO the Fox 2.5s tuned by AccuTune would be my top choice if there was no budget and will be something I’ll be looking at in the future. But the 2.0s are currently doing a hell of a job for me and just thought I’d share that for anyone on the fence.

Leer 100XR truck cap, 5100's on the middle setting. Ikon Add A leaf, Cooper Discover ATX3 275/70/18, Genuine Cooling Systems transmission cooler, chrome delete.
I went with 5100's but I was thinking about the Fox 2.0's. When my 5100's wear out I might be going with those or the Fox 2.5's. I am not really that interested in going over 2", so I wonder if the 2.5's are overkill. Like you I am mostly driving on the road, occasionally tow and dirt road but no wheeling. You sound very happy with the ride quality, have you driven a Tundra with the 5100's? I am wondering how the Fox 2.0's ride compared to the 5100s. I am overall happy with the way my truck rides, it feels pretty stock overall, slightly more firm but in a good way. How would you describe the Fox compared to a totally stock Tundra without spacers? Thanks!

I can't remember where I read it, but the 5100s supposedly have the same valving as the TRD yellow and blue shocks but with the anodized body and adjustable coil height.

That said, I have the Fox 2.0 smooth bodies on the back of my Tundra and the difference is night and day vs the TRD shocks. After I installed the shocks, I didn't drive the truck for a day or two. When I backed out of my driveway, I thought the rear tires were low on air because the shocks absorbed the dip off the sidewalk so well. Driving down a road with gapping seams (like concrete or old asphalt), it's kinda comical the difference.... the sharp bump feeling with the TRD shocks on the front then almost nothing felt with the Fox on the rear. Can't wait till i can install new shocks on the front.

    I went from spacers to Fox 2.5s and yeah it's a better ride but I still think it's firm (which I don't mind). IMO a truck isn't supposed to feel like a Caddy...especially when it's a 4x4.

Then again, I think it's sacrilege to lower a 4WD yet people do it.

Did you keep the spacer on top of the Fox Coilover?

I haven't driven a Tundra with 5100s so can't speak to the comparison, I was looking at those as an option as well and think I would have been happy either route. I'd say the fox 2.0s are an improvement to stock in handling, feeling planted, and soaking bumps. Going over railroad tracks at speed feels smooth as butter!

Definitely agree. The main reason I decided to switch was that the back end of my truck would hop anytime I would go over certain sized bumps, and felt like it needed a second to get positioned again. Not a great feeling on the interstate. These shocks eliminate that completely and there is a lot more control over the same bumps. Road imperfections don't bother me as much anymore, either.

Nah I didn’t although I can see how that pic looks like it. This is how they came out of the box.

    Stock for now
Just curious, which stock shocks did you have? TRD Offroad or plain janes? Like you I'm just looking for a couple inches/level lift and playing spin the wheel on Toytec vs. Fox vs. Bilstein vs. Eibach :annoyed:

Mine were just plain jane black Toyota shocks. And man i feel you - the analysis paralysis was real for me. I ended up just matching my budget with my use case and figured the fox 2.0s would be plenty for my needs. Still loving them so far!

They also have a clean pop in the wheel well

Love my 5100s. The boss has Fox 2.0 on his Ram 1500. Apples to Oranges but I like the way the 5100s feel and handle. I know my Tundra drove better stock vs stock.

Nice set up. What wheel and tire combo are you running?

Bringing this back for a question.

Did you leave the coilovers at factory settings or did you adjust prior to install? I just got my 2.0's for my 13 tundra and I'm trying to gauge how much of a lift it'll give me. I would like to keep a little pit of a rake for hauling and towing.

    Thanks!

I debated between the 2.0 and 2.5 Fox, went with the 2.0 on my 2wd dc and couldn't be happier with the ride over the yellow bilstein trd pkg.

So with the Fox 2.0 you were still able to fit the 34.8 tires. I’m currently about to switch from spacers to these and was fearing it wouldn’t be enough for my tires
