Man shipping on sliders is absolutely brutal. Has anyone used any fab shops in the Inland NW (eastern WA, north Idaho, western MT) for bolt on rock sliders for a 2nd Gen? I requested a quote from a shop in town and he came back at $2-2500 . Makes the $1100 shipped price from WKOR not seem so bad!

I'd call them directly and mention your concerns. Can't imagine they are only using two attachment points on the frame.

I bit the bullet and ordered from SDHQ upon 2019's black Friday's sale. The discount pretty much covered shipping costs to PDX.

It's worth weighing the downtime you'd encounter with a local fab shop, and it may be easier to get the exact look you're after with pre-fab'd components.

I am a big fan of supporting local business, and if that's your aim I think that's very respectable. Yes, the shipping cost is difficult to stomach, however that shipping cost never enters my mind anymore knowing that I got exactly what I wanted for my truck.

Thanks for the input, keep it coming.

    To answer some questions:

    1. Yes I prefer to buy local IF it’s somewhat competitive for price shipped from somewhere else. I'm not paying 2x the price to support local businesses.
    2. If I can’t buy local for a reasonable price I’ll try to buy from a TW vendor. If not, there are a number of companies that are pretty similar on their pricing.
    3. Can’t say as I care a whole lot about looks. They’re sliders. As long as it doesn’t look like they were made in a middle school shop class, I’m more about functionality. Looks may be a final determining factor but not a primary one.
    4. CBI is definitely close enough for a drive. I’ll make a fishing or hunting trip out of it if I order from them.
    5. I’ll reach out to Rocky Road Outfitters, but I’ve read on numerous forums about their attachment system being a two point on the frame and then the pinch weld.

There’s another vendor that’s based out of SW Oregon that does Tundra stuff. Cannot remember their name right now. Will try to search them out if I get some time tonight. Work is kicking my butt today.

Wheeler's in Grant's Pass. They sell Apex sliders. They used to only have them for a CM. Worth a call though.

Hadn't thought of Wheeler's, that's where I bought my suspension setup from. Unfortunately, they only sell for the CM still. Bummer, I have a cousin in Grant's Pass I could visit.

Yeah, right now they're the front runner. Easy drive to Idaho Falls.

Northwest Trail Innovations is just north of Portland. It looks like their sliders are all custom made though.

Yep, this is who I was thinking about. I've never used them, but got a buddy that's got a hard-core old land cruiser and says they've got a good reputation. I'm prob going to go with them when it's time to upgrade from the basic steps.

With no sales tax either that’s a really good deal if you can do pickup. Just for giggles I checked on their freight and it was $375! I’ll either go with them or CBI. Probably have to wait until next year to buy though.

Yeah, we have friends that live in Vancouver. They're about an hour away from Metal Tech...within range of "I'm going for a drive..." sometime when I'm down there.

LOL. I’m trying to figure out how much hot water I would be in if I buy sliders while the boss is gone.

Mule Outfitters might have some options too -- they are in both Issaquah and Tualatin. RCI's Black Friday sale prices cut the CO-OR shipping hurt way down.
