so I have these Arlo cameras.

I put the little solar panels on each outside camera to charge them & they have worked awesome

Yesterday, it was Africa hot in Conroe. 102 ambient - 116 index.

the solar panels faulted and stopped charging.

    guess why.

    ready?

    THEY GOT TOO HOT.

we live in a clown world.

    Doing a smidge of research….

it appears ALL solar panels stop charging, or become less efficient, as they get hotter

    thats just stupid

Do you have a infrared thermometer? I wonder what the temp is on the panel itself at the heat of the day.

no. But I bet it was stupid hot

    it is in direct sunlight

see, as a simple man, I would think solar panels would thrive when the damn sun is shining on them

when they cool off… they start to function again

    just silly

It started charging later that evening. When it cooled to a frigid 90.

All electronics prefer cool temps. Generally the cooler the better!

Solar panels are typically mounted above a roof, not ON a roof, so there's room for air flow to keep temperatures more reasonable.

I'm pretty far south as well, and I get the best output from my panels when it's sunny and windy when it's not really really hot. The production definitively goes down on those 100+ days when there isn't a single iota of a breeze.

EDIT: Hardware quality matters too. My inverter was registering an internal temperature of 62... CELCIUS! And still functions somehow.
