Anyone having or had similar issues.

I purchased Stop Tech slotted rotors along with Power Stop brake pads and had Toyota do the install. I thought the pedal was softer than usual and Toyota felt the same way. They bleed the brakes for me again and it still feels softer than usual but stops fine. They said everything else was fine. Any suggestions out there.

    Thanks

Most likely cause power stop uses ceramic pads. Does it still stop good? Just the pedal feels like it goes down farther? Gets better once warmed up?

I have power stop rotors and pads. My first stop in the morning isn’t the firmest, but it gets better when they warm up. They do feel like they go down farther than stock, but it stops good. I can tell they are making contact with a slight push. They’ve gotten better after a few hundred miles too.

Unless you got air in the abs or your pedal sinks when holding it, it’s probably the normal feel for ceramic pads. They will feel softer and need to warm up to get full stopping strength.

It does stop good nd Toyota did mention the fact that they are ceramic and not Toyota pads. It get a bit firmer after longer use. They do go down further thank stock and does stop fine. I even left skid marks when testing them after reading a post on here about the ABS. Toyota bled them twice, all four, says there's no air. They are looking at it again soon. I just might have them put Toyota pads on and check then. No sure I like the feel if this is normal. I'm use to and like a firm pedal.

I think you’ll get used to it, but pads are fairly easy to change. You can do it at home in an hour or so with simple tools. I wouldn’t keep paying Toyota to go back and forth.

True. I would have but I thought it was worth paying them the $120 since I haven't had time to do the job. I appreciate the info. They aren't charging me to look at it to resolve the issue. Now they may for the pads if I so choose. LoL

If they don't break in and feel better, try EBC rotors and their Truck /SUV Extra Duty pads. I had the EBC slotted / dimpled rotors and EBC XD pads (all 4 corners) on a Suburban 2500 (hydroboost) and it made the braking about 20 - 30% better and a much firmer pedal feel.

Yeah id like a firmer feel too and will probably try ebc next. I’ve read good things about them. But I needed something and the power stop kit had a good sale when I got it. I’ve gotten used to the feel now. And if I slam on it I know it’ll stop.
