So 70MPH wind gust tipped a basketball hoop onto the side of the bed. I have already had it paintless dent repaired (dent gone), but the metal stretched causing some small paint waves. Tiny ding left just below the bedcap. May just do a custom matte black decal to cover the wave. Any suggestions?

Ouch. Sorry that happened to you. I don't really have any ideas aside from a body shop repair. I can't think of anything that would cover it up or hide it either. Curious to see what others think here...

As I said, the dent is gone now. These are the before fix pics. I just can’t stand the wave. I will try a wet sand and buff to see if it helps.

Gotchya. I assumed the photos were after and that portion was not able to be removed. Maybe hit up one of the decal guys on here and have a custom one made to run down the bedsides.

That is what I am thinking. Like a matte black or a ghosted effect.

The waves look a little too high for fender flares to cover it up. Bed graphics might be the best solution.

lets see a pic of what is left...gotta be careful or you could make this much worse...especially on black...I had someone run their bumper down the side of my pass doors and decided to just leave the minor dents alone...

Have you talked to a dentless repairman to see what they think. Looking at the picture I'd say 90 percent could be removed, hardest part is going to be at the bed rail. Good luck.

Get a better PDR technician. The technician should have worked inside and outside metal manipulations to remove any imperfections. I have seen worst damages and PDR fixed it to a point that there was no way to tell anything happened.

That is who did the repair. Said if they get the tiny one left out that the paint will crack.

I need to get a better pic. There is the dimple. When I look in certain light when the salt isn’t on the truck, I see ripple like effects in the paint.

Vinyl just won’t do much for dents. I have a bad one on my rear door and it shows worse with the wrap.

that's nothing honestly. the salt on the truck will do more damage long term imo.
I would just leave it alone.

The paint has ripples in it. Dent is gone. I ran my finger over the small one and it really can’t be noticed. A wet sand and buff may help the ripple effect. Not sure yet.

Its hard to say without seeing it in person. Vinyl is only so good at covering flaws. sometimes you end up seeing more flaws than not.
