I’m waiting to take delivery on a Snugtop Rebel and found threads here where the clamps bent the lip on the bed on trucks without the factory rail system. Those posts were from 2019. Anyone order one lately? Is that still an issue?

I don’t have the bed rail system. I liked the Snugtop on my Tacoma but will cancel the order if they don’t clamp correctly. Looking at those posts with issues not only is the lip bent but it’s doubtful the cap would stay secure since all the clamping force is on the edge of the sheet metal and not under the bed cap.

Then I would suggest you get the bed rail system. Or fab your own....there are threads on this site about doing DIY bed rail system for cheap.

I just spoke with the dealer and they confirmed Snugtop is still using the clamp that will bend the lip. They suggested the billet aluminum clamp Leer uses to prevent that so that’s what I’m going to have them install. Other than the topper I don’t have a use for the rail system. Had it in my Tacoma and never used it.

Don’t forget to remove the bed sticker since your cap will cover part of it.
