They had a 20+ dump two days before so the snow was great. It’s got to be a lot deeper for these old bones to drop anything big

Went to the mountain yesterday because it was the first day of ski school for the girls (6&8 and also their first times) because they REALLY wanted to go. It was -11 degrees so I opted to not go up after school was done. Gonna go tomorrow though.

I'm over in NJ closest mountain is blue in PA. Still only has like 15 out of 35ish trails open with grass still visible on mountain cams. Every week we get 50 degree rain days and kills all of it. Major storm rolling in now in Maine, Upstate NY, Vermont and NH though. Going up tomorrow morning 8 am bright and early. I have off all presidents day week so trying to figure out if i should go west again (did big sky last year) or hit Vermont again (went up this year already)

Work and parenting has kept my spare time down to a minimum the past few years. Recently I have been getting the itch to get back out on the slopes.

I have been slowly upgrading my gear and equipment and rode last week for the first time in a long time. It was the first time riding with a new helmet, new goggles, new board, new boots, and new bindings.

What a difference compared to my 10+ year old gear!

My first reaction was how comfortable everything was.

I’m not sure if it was my old boots or user error by strapping too tight, but the combo of step ons and boa (Burton Photon SO) were night and day difference compared to my old setup.

If you have any circulation issues with your current boot/binding setup I would consider step ons.

I didn’t take any pics, next time I get out I will snap some and post them.

Nice. Nothing worse than boots that hurt. I rode the original Burton step ins for years and loved them. I’ll definitely get them the next time I need bindings.

It’s been a rough one here as well. The advantage we have is the snow doesn’t really melt so we don’t lose any. We’ve gotten 250” but I think we had almost 500 by the end of last season

250 inches of snow?!?!?! I just rode at Wintergreen VA this weekend... they have had 9in total this year, all of which melted immediately. Every drop of snow on the mountain is fake right now.

    Agreed!

Prior to these step ons I have only used strap ins, but I would imagine the feeling of step ons are pretty similar to the feeling of the old style step ins in respect to how your feet feel in the boots.

Yeah - we are sitting on about 72" total so far this year. We average about 150" / year so it's been pretty slow for us. About 2 weeks of nothing. Which is insane in February.

As seen in my pic above - I'm also using the Burton Step Ons. Photon boot with the Genesis Re:Flex binding... great combo.

I had a shitty day at the end of last season in my Step Ons and mistakenly blamed the setup. Went back down the rabbit hole and bought Union Atlas bindings w/ Vans Infuse boots. Took those out a month ago and immediately wanted my SO setup back on the board. First thing I did when I got home was put the SO setup back on and sold the brand new gear to my brother at a major loss. Not only for the ease of use, but also the feel. I'm not sure how to describe it but I truly feel more connected to the board with the Step Ons vs traditional bindings. Plus the Photon boots fit like slippers. At this point I would never go back to the old way... and will just look for updates on SO boots and bindings as they come out.
