7” BDS lift 20” fuel wheels on 35’s
Hello everyone, I have a ‘16 4x4 with a BDS 7” lift on 35 x12.50 20’s(brand new tires installed 3 hours ago). I’m still running the stock UCA’s on it and have had this lift for about 5 years. Whenever I’m turning into a parking spot or drive through my tires slip into the turn and I can feel the truck hop into the turn ( slip, grip, slip)The noise coming from the wheels is like I’m doing donuts. This was happening with the old tires, the new tires now bite into the turn. Still make the loud screeching noise. I’ve checked the inner tie rods, UCA’s look good. I did the wheel check with the truck in the air my hands at 9/3 and 12/6 to see if I get any movement or any sound but nothing. Hope someone has had a similar issue or know someone who did. Appreciate any input.

Do your wheels poke out a lot? The wider you make the track width from stock the worse the tires will line up with the ideal turning geometry, this also applies as the tires get taller. So if you have 35s and a lot of tire poke then it's just the way the geometry lines up. That's assuming your alignment is fine.

Tires don’t stick out that much, never had this issue until recently. Been aligned in the past 5 months. Appreciate the response!

Does it feel like it’s binding as if it’s in 4wd? Can you go to an empty parking lot and have someone else drive it while you look at the wheels to see if there’s any play?

No, it doesn’t feel like it’s binding. I put it on 4 wheel drive and the feeling is very different. You know I haven’t done that, your suggestion in the parking lot, I’ll get someone to help me out. Sometimes the most obvious things to do is overlooked. Appreciate the feedback.

Well, took the truck to a parking lot and didn’t notice anything. Had my new tires rebalanced and now for some reason it isn’t slip/grip/slip on turns and no more tire screech. ‍♂️ I can’t explain it!!

Did they touch the alignment? I don't know why rebalancing alone would make any difference either, but that's great to hear!

No, they didn’t touch the alignment. Just think my old tires were just completely worn. It’s the only logical explanation.

    Swaybar rubbing?
Do you have remote reservoirs up front?
    Wheel offset?
    Which tire?
    alignment spec?
    Body mount chop?
    Front bumper Fender line modifications?
How many turns from center in each direction do you turn before hearing/feeling the noise?

Normally when I get new tires I get an alignment to protect my investment

Is it possible it's the painted lines and/or finish of certain parking lots? I know that with a stock alignment and camber, in my area, I'd get tire chirp in certain conditions and it was almost always started by the painted lines. Since changing camber to nearly 0, I don't have it happen nearly as often.

No sway bar rub, no reservoirs and the wheels are +20mm offset. No body chop or front bumper modifications. The noise is instant turning right or left instantly from right side if I’m turning right and left side when turning left. Just had the truck aligned and it is in the green. I’m replacing my stock UCA’s with some BDF’s. I haven’t had the issue with my new tires so I’m assuming it was the workmen out tires.

Yes definitely was more evident with concrete versus asphalt.

Got the alignment done soon after the tire installation. Found I was still under the alignment warranty so I got it done.

Green doesn't always mean good. Me personally, when I do alignments on vehicles with offroad tires I try to get camber and toe as close to zero as possible. Too much camber and or toe can cause this concern, and tire wear.

This is why I enjoy this forum, I never knew that. I’m usually at the mercy of the alignment tech.
