Is it a bad idea to put these 4 tires on the truck?

    Hey All,

I'm new to the forum so please go easy on me if this is a total noob question. I have 2 pairs of tires, both the same size: 2 of the Toyo Open Country M/T LT and 2 of the Kumho Road Venture MT. The Kumhos have slightly less tread and slightly less circumference. When I measure with tape, the circumference is 1.75in shorter on the Kumhos . My truck is a 2008 with a 4in BDS lift setup.

Driving type: Most of the driving I do is city commuting, paved highway in the mountains, and some dirt roads in the mountains on the weekends. Maybe 10 times per season I get onto some pretty rough dirt/rocky roads headed up to campsites where I engage the 4x4 for a couple miles at a time. Not rock crawling or anything like that and no trailers.

Question: is it a bad idea to put these 4 tires on the truck? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Pic: This is about as rowdy as she gets.

Welcome David. 1.75" is A LOT. Still, it wont hurt as long as you don't use 4 wheel drive.

@831Tun thanks for the reply. Dont use 4 wheel drive at all? Or would I be ok using it occasionally but just not aggressively. Better to put the tires with more tread (greater circumference) on the front or back?

If you're going to use the 2 different sizes make sure they're paired up front and rear.

Also, DO NOT use 4wd. It'll end bad. Like using uneven sized tires on the rear axle. One side will be trying to catch up with the other and just grind the gears to death.

Trying to save a dime will end up costing you a few bucks.

My advise, sell those tires on craigslist and get 4 of the same tire.

never go cheap on tires and brakes. I would sell them on CL and get 4 of the same.
