Slider question

I am considering getting a set of sliders. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. P&P and SDHQ. My only 2 concerns are due to fitment with my bushwacker fender flares and if I coat them with rhino or linex.

I have a crewmax, here it is


Does anyone with any experience with these think I would have a fitment issue mounting them onto my current setup of fender flares and if I was to rhino line the sliders?
You can see in this pic how the flare sits in rear of front wheel well. It doesn't look to me that the sliders mount too close to the rear to cause issue.


There's certain things I like about these 2 choices and the fact they sit high and tight. I don't plan to beat the hell out them but want the extra protection just in case when I'm off the street.

Before I pull any trigger I'm trying to do my research to find out if anyone can forsee or those with some experience can keep me from making a mistake. Guess my concern is the thing I love most about them, being high and tight, is that going to cause an issue with me installing on my setup, especially if I have them coated more than just powder coat?

I'd check with Joey at SDHQ. I love my SDHQ sliders!

 

I think you’ll be fine with SDHQ. I have a DC not a Crew Max but, as this pic shows...

The back of the SDHQ slider extends to about the back of the cab, and you’ve got a bit of distance between the front of your bed and the front of your fenders.

I don’t think you should consider demello in this situation. The same thing some people love about demello, over SDHQ, is the extended length that protects almost all the way back to the front of the rear wheel wells. In your case, that would cause the problem you’re trying to avoid.

No problem with powder coating, except maybe skip coating the inside of the mounting areas that fit tightly around the frame of your truck. It’ll be tight as is.

 

Don’t go P&P. So so many horror stories here. I got them. Love the sliders but they’ve lost my business forever for the games and horrible support. In the end I ended up waiting 13 weeks for uncoated sliders and had many collection calls from the shipper due to P&P payments bouncing. Good luck!!

 

Tnx Monet, Truck looks great, I haven't seen it in a while. Looking beastly. Although I like the Demello and yours look great I think it would be a bit overkill for my application. I'm one of those guys that loves being offroad, but unfortunately I'm on the street a much larger majority of the time. I don't feel I need a ton of protection, just a bit more than I have now.

Tnx. I asked them via email about the flares and was told shouldn't be a problem. I'm finding people that either have fender flares with sliders or that have their sliders coated. Not many seem to have both. I'm just wondering with the tight looking clearances will those 2 things be an issue.

 

Tnx Sunny u make great points. Yeah both sliders I'm looking at angle down to a bit of point looking like the flares could work. I'm just wondering how tight is it and then if adding coating on top am I playing with fire on already tight clearances.

 

Tnx for info. Yeah unfortunately I've heard some stuff like that and others. Then some people recently placed order and had it in days. I'm wondering if maybe the owner got himself in over his head with a group buy and it spiraled out control. Either way I appreciate the info. I like his sliders and have heard nothing but great things on his quality. It's too bad about the other stuff.

 

The only place the clearance is tight is where it fits around the frame. There it’s so tight on some trucks that it takes the weight of the truck to help for the frame into the jacked up sliders, tight.

Although they look close to the truck when standing away from the truck, there’s plenty of room. Enough to hold a large piece of cardboard between the sliders and the rockers to repaint after you take off the paint or powder coat every time you go rock-sliding....

I appreciate the info and offer. I like them because they sit pretty tight to truck. I'm guessing if my sliders take a dozen hits that would be alot. I also need the kids and wifey to be able to step on getting in n out truck. I'm definitely not doing any major rock crawling or anything like that. I want tight and high clearance with them protecting just in case. That's why I also think I can get away with coating them. I don't have any intentions of banging them up good.

 

Rust is also a pretty big issue where I live. To protect from them rusting to shit I was thinking I might either do a rhino line or linex on them.

If it takes a scrape on the bottom it won't be a big deal, I'll just touch it up with some spray. But at least the tops will give extra traction for my fam and they should hold up to the salt on roads.

 

Really like that bumper setup. Who makes it, and what winch did you install?

I love my lined p&p sliders. High and tight. I tried to post pics that best show the fitment at the wheel wells for your flares. There is not a very much space, and inch at best I'd guess, I can measure tomorrow if you really want to know if it will work. These are the non bumped out straight slider version. (Type 2 I believe).
I was fortunately a buyer that received everything in perfect shape, but there were some shipping issues with some of the orders (group buy).

There was one guy who didn’t get hardware for months after his order. There may not be an issue, but if you have to get ahold of Mac then your pretty much screwed.

 

I had mine coated with line-x and they worked great to bounce of desert trail rocks coming off the tires for years. Then one day I slid into a deep wash hole and the end result was it ripped about 6” off the line-x.
Once water gets behind the line-x it’s prone to rust.

Now you can repair line-x using roofing asphalt sealer but it’s hard to get the finish consistent with original application.

So if you plan on sliding on rocks, don’t go line-x

 

I have p&p sliders with top plate with the liner. I love them and they worked with my flares. No rub. I have however heard of bad experiences with customer service. I did not have a bad experience. And got a good price. Also had them for a full winter in pa and no rust.

 

Tnx the bumper is southern style offroad and the winch is warn Platinum xeon 10s synthetic, I love both and had for while.

 

Tnx for that. Yeah I love them, the product that is, and if I got them would probably be in bare metal so not too worried about how they arrive. Assuming they did arrive and with everything I need to install lol. The only thing besides that makes me a bit nervous is the very tight gap in front, especially if I linex or rhino them with my flares, it definitely looks tight. Tnx for pics an extra inch in front might be all that's needed.

 

Yeah I got the impression from my research that he maybe got in over his head on the group buy and got frustrated. It's still no excuse and definitely gives me pause, but I've heard others more recently that went very smooth. The consensus I've found is product is top notch, service not so much. It's definitely concerning but I'm never too quick to judge.

 

Tnx for info. Who knows what will ever happen, but I can go into it saying I don't intend to be bouncing off rocks hard. I don't wheel hard, but I do find myself off pavement on occasion, I'm going into it thinking it's just better to have for those just in case moments.

 

Yup same I've found and heard. Product is perfect, service spotty. Thanks for info. If u happen to have a pic showing how tight with flares I'd love to see it. I know theres different size flares too, mine being a bushwacker model tend to be a bit bulkier than others.

 

Search the other car forums. This has been going on for a long time...if you do a search for reviews on the internet you’ll start noticing a long running trend. With all the great options out there, why risk it?

 

Yup been there done that. Seen on Nissan too. It's definitely all over the place. If it was only a couple I could chalk that up to the customer, but when it's that many it gives me pause on the seller.

 

I planned on running the same fender flares with White Knuckle sliders. I know that isn't P&P or SDHQ, but the white knuckles come out at a similar angle to the P&P and I had the same thoughts about if the gap would be tight near the flares. I think the P&P ones are a little thicker on the angled piece though. I'm picking them up this week and slapping them on soon.
It's a nice rig though, I'm pretty sure your truck was what made me buy a diamondback.

I took my flares off the only pic I have maybe you can zoom in but there’s also buildup of snow I think and dirt. But there was just as much clearance as along the body of the truck as there was by the flares. Also they’re def strong. I’ve lifted the truck just by the sliders at my mechanics many times.

 

I have been present during an install and helped with installs of various sliders and I see interference with fender flares both in front and rear. I have a set of Whiteknuckle sliders and they provide from what I have been seeing the best fit for clearance issues.
