    Hey Y’all! Finally getting around to posting about coating my sliders.

    I bought these cool abrasive wheels from my local dept. store. Made the job go very fast.

    I used three cans each per slider:
    Rustoleum Grey Self Etching

    I noticed after uploading
    These photos that I don’t have an installed pic but I’ll be home this weekend and post them when I get there.

    Sanding the metal was tedious. These things sat on the pallet for a while and had some rust obviously. I sanded all the rust areas and took down any heavy patina that was on the sliders. Wear gloves because that wheel is sharp! I took the guard of for better articulation while sanding around the intricacies of the sliders.

    I then sprayed them
    With primer. Took about three cans a piece to get a nice thick coat that doesn’t show any metal through. A lot is used trying to get all around the sliders since they have hard to reach spaces.

    Lastly I sprayed the sliders with the rattle can rustoleum liner. I love it. It’s not too gritty and it went on very smoothly without lumps or drips. It took about two days before they cured but it’s well worth it. I had them out on some pretty gnarly dirt roads and banged them a couple times and it held up fine with no chipping. Only scratched where it hit the rocks. It’s the perfect texture for grippy-ness but won’t gore you’re leg if it accidentally rubs the sliders.

    I used three jack stands to hold the slider during install and I would adjust them up until the slider was in place. Worked very well. I installed them in less then 2 hours. I think I spent around 110 dollars to coat these sliders.

    All in all I’m really happy with the outcome and recommend the rustoleum products.

    I went a similar route with my P&P sliders. Cleaned the bare metal and same primer. At first I used normal black rattle can paint, but felt it was chipping and scratching too easily. Went over them completely with the same bed liner as you and they've been much better. Wish I would have just started with the canned bed liner from the beginning like you.

    Nicely done and nice write-up and pics.
