Skid plate install

Just purchased a 2018 1794 4x4. The truck came with what appears to be the TRD Pro suspension kit and sway bars installed. I'm interested in installing a TRD Pro skid plate. Do I need any spacer/hardware to compensate for the different suspension? Also, I'ver read that people were having issues with a rubbing noise. What are most people using to remedy that?

They come stock on TRD Pros, so you don't need additional spacers unless you have a diff drop (which you shouldn't).
The popping/rubbing noise is apparently caused by the bolts being fastened too tightly from the factory and crushing the nuts/spacers, so just torque them to spec and you should be fine.

 

I just installed mine trd pro skit plate and is pretty easy if you have the right tools and space to work on. Other then that no you don’t need anything just be pastiest if you can ask a friend even easier

 

If your truck has the stock TRD Suspension and no lift, then it will fit. I have one on my 14 Limited. The TRD skid plate is a pain in the ass. You have to pay close attention to how the hardware gets installed and even then its iffy that it wont squeak. If it ever has to come off, you have to ensure the hardware gets reinstalled properly. Overall, I don’t recommend spending the $350 bucks to wed yourself to it. You can mod your existing if you want easy access to the oil filter, there are a few threads on this.
