This is not a thread about the different materials they make skid plates and under armor out of but more of a practicality one.

Do you think that skid plates and such are and good investment if you don’t slide boulders , drive trials or off road ?

I will be honest in that after reading about skid plate here I was convinced that I needed one particular brand but not for off road. I even spoke with my colleagues who area of expertise is all things metal. While they debated aluminum vs. steel in the lower southeast part of the country, one thing was pretty clear
It’s far more dangerous driving on the interstates than many trails.

still I had to think about my last truck and the likelihood of hitting debris in the road. It’s probably one of the worst feelings in driving

well I would have to say second. My first one was when I was doing 65mph in my bass boat. Out of no where saw a tree trunk going across the canel I was in. I felt the boat LIFT UP on my port side and time seemed to slow down. I just waited for the engine to smack that tree because I was riding it the length of the boat. To my surprise and with eyes open and cheeks clinched the boat just slid off. No damage at all anywhere. I was a nervous wreck and sat still for thirty minutes after coming off plane

anyways I said all that to say that I think it’s a wonderful investment but getting everything in looking for from one place has been a challenge

The convenience of an aftermarket or TRD Pro skid for oil changes is a major boon, and it's never a bad idea to have some protection for the underside. Your profile states you have a 2019 Pro, so you should already have a good engine skid.

I'd also recommend getting some cat plates to protect against theft of your catalytic converters.

I'd say, for the stated use, keep the skid plate you have on the engine, and add some decent cat protection and you should be good.

I don't off-road, other than the gravel road used as a diesel truck pull through (which is amazingly fun) behind the local Bojangles. I got a full set of Talons for oil change convenience and CAT PROTECTION. Bonus is I can run over tree stumps and zombies, if I ever need to...cheap insurance.

rubber shim (grommet) between the TRD skid and the trans skid should be an easy fix for that...
