I've been wanting a Mob Armor magnetic base mount for the cell phone for a while. I went to a local RV Dealer's RV show over the weekend. While there I browsed through their Parts and Accessory store. Much to my surprise, they stocked Mob Armor. And it was on sale. I plunked down the $$ and brought it home.

I was wanting a clean look for when I wasn't using it. So, this is what I came up with.

You will have to use a strong magnet on the inside of the dash because the magnetic field has to go through the plastic. I looked around locally and couldn't find a magnet strong enough to hold the mount with the phone in it securely through the plastic. So, I ordered this magnet on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M22YMPO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I removed the center dash a/c vents and roughed up the area for the magnet with sandpaper. Then I cleaned the area with alcohol.

I used double sided indoor/outdoor carpet tape because that's what I had laying around. I guess you could use epoxy, super glue, etc. if you wanted. You might be able to do this by just pulling the radio out and reaching in behind the dash panel to stick the magnet.

Here's what it looks like when done:

And yes, using 2 magnets does keep the phone's compass from working when in the mount. But, the gps still works.
