Brand new owner of 2002 Tundra-not yet picked up. I arranged to have the transmission serviced and was told that they used Silver State full synthetic fluid. Is this compatible with Toyota's recommendation? I know it's a Colorado Petrolium product. Any thoughts pro or con?
    Thanks, Captain Andy

Check your owners manual, it'll say the type of transmission fluid to use. There were three types used across the first gens, and I can never remember which got what.

The fluid TYPE is your focal point, not the brand. In your 2002, it must be DEXRON II or III

    Thanks, Black Mamba
I'll check to see if what they used comports with dexron II or III. It probably does since they work almost exclusively with Toyotas. And thanks for that list of fluids.

It can technically be any DEX fluid. All Dextron fluids are backwards compatible. You can always use a higher number, not a lower number. And don't buy into "universal" fluids that work with everything. 2000-2002 use Dex3 or higher, 2003-2004 use Type T-IV, and 2005-2006 use Type WS.
